Vision for Curriculum

Together we will work toward: Type your answer in the text box.

1.Richness

· Developing an awareness that there are layers of meaning to an idea/concept; openness to finding patterns and connections and exploring the multiple possibilities and interpretations

· Tapping into natural curiosity and questions about the world to drive the curriculum

· Asking questions throughout an investigative process to continually deepen our understanding

· Being comfortable with “not knowing” or not having the “correct answer”

EXAMPLE:

· Developing an awareness that there are layers of meaning to an idea/concept; openness to finding patterns and connections and exploring the multiple possibilities and interpretations

I am confident in finding patterns and making connections with scientific concepts. I enjoy working with the unknown and trying to create my own understanding by linking it to things I have already experienced or learned in the classroom.

· Tapping into natural curiosity and questions about the world to drive the curriculum

I am not confident about allowing natural curiosity and questions to drive the curriculum. I’m the type of person who likes to have specific assignments with specific answers. It is difficult for me to trust that all things will get covered by allowing the students to drive the curriculum.

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking at this time.

· Developing an awareness that there are layers of meaning to an idea/concept; openness to finding patterns and connections and exploring the multiple possibilities and interpretations

I am confident in finding patterns and connection between ideas and concept. I’m confident because I do it every day. I’m always using my background knowledge and linking it to what I learn. It has showed me that there a numerous ideas and concepts to many things that we learn.

· Tapping into natural curiosity and questions about the world to drive the curriculum

I’m somewhat confident in natural curiosity and question because I do it all the time in math. There’s always equations and formulas and I always find myself asking the teacher is there another way to get that answer. I’ve always been a curious person and willing to try just about anything.

· Asking questions throughout an investigative process to continually deepen our understanding

I am highly confident about asking questions when I don’t fully understand things. I’m a very confident talking to people so to raise my hand in class is no problem. I’ve always been the student who wants to know what the teacher would say or how would they answer the question so asking questions is how I determine that.

· Being comfortable with “not knowing” or not having the “correct answer”

I am definitely not confident with this at all. I hate not knowing something it makes me feel so bubbly inside. Especially when I’m the type of person to get to the bottom of what exactly the answer is. It makes me anxious and possibly stressed because I do not know. *rolls eyes*

Middle: Explain things that are confirmed or changed or confusing.

· Developing an awareness that there are layers of meaning to an idea/concept; openness to finding patterns and connections and exploring the multiple possibilities and interpretations

I’m still confident in knowing that there are steps that lead up to an idea/concept. I’m also open to finding patterns and connection and exploring multiple possibilities. I know that I’m open to this because I comfortable with changing to a different variable when performing multiple rounds of inquiry.

· Tapping into natural curiosity and questions about the world to drive the curriculum

I’m confident in this but it’s like at the low level of being confident lol. When we are in class performing experiments or talking I automatically think like how did that happen or what causes something to happen. I often will be in class looking up why something works like it does because I’m so curious and have so many questions running through my head.

· Asking questions throughout an investigative process to continually deepen our understanding

I am confident in asking questions throughout investigations. I’m an extravert so I’ve never been one to sit back and not say anything. Recently during an investigation I didn’t fully understand something so I was NOT going to move on until one of my peers could explain to me in a way that I did understand. I think that it offended some because I was firm with my voice and I stuck to my word. I think it’s kind of a struggle finding that balance on what to question and when to move on.

· Being comfortable with “not knowing” or not having the “correct answer”

I’m somewhat confident in not knowing or not having the correct answer now because it’s becoming mind boggling. Throughout high school and most part of college up until now it always was a right answer or right way to do something so when you don’t know it’s frustrating. I also find it helpful because it makes me as a student go home and research it ON MY OWN.

End: Explain why your ideas changed or didn’t change as a result of this class

· Developing an awareness that there are layers of meaning to an idea/concept; openness to finding patterns and connections and exploring the multiple possibilities and interpretations

From the middle to the end I’ve remained confidents in understanding there are pieces to the whole. I know that everything around us and in this world somehow connect in some way. During our different experiments in inquiry, every time we’ve had to work up to what the whole was and how something happened. In the different ROUNDS of inquiry I have been able to make connections with all three. The changes I’ve saw and what stayed the same.

· Tapping into natural curiosity and questions about the world to drive the curriculum

I have also remained confident in this area as well. At the beginning of every round we all have to come up with a question. After we have decided on the question I automatically get anxious and have thoughts wondering through my head about what the answer maybe. I think that brings about curiosity with every experiment we perform. Also when our data is supported or not supported we start thinking of all kinds of questions as to why it wasn’t or was.

· Asking questions throughout an investigative process to continually deepen our understanding

I am highly confident in this area. I’ve always been a strong headed person meaning I always want to be right about something (lol don’t judge me). With that being said I’m continuously asking questions to make sure I understand something especially in a group. I know sometimes when people know it all they will just go with what they think but I will always have them explain it to me to see if it makes sense and that I understand it.

· Being comfortable with “not knowing” or not having the “correct answer”

This one is still hard for me, I’m stuck in a hard place. One minute I’m confident then the next I’m somewhat confident. When I think about myself being tested over something or graded on something I feel like I have to know the answer. I start to think about grades and how if I don’t know the correct answer then my grade will go down. When it’s not for a grade I seem to do just fine. It’s definitely an uphill battle.

2.Recursion

· Re-examine “scientific words and phrases” that you remember, read, or hear from others. What meaning do these words really have to you?

· Recording your learning experiences for the purpose of reflection and further understanding

· Referring to those reflections and examining what you understood at that time while looking for connections to newly constructed knowledge and applying this new understanding to questions and problems

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking at this time.

· Re-examine “scientific words and phrases” that you remember, read, or hear from others. What meaning do these words really have to you?

I am somewhat confident in this. Over the summer I met some really great women in one of my classes. I started learning habits from them like checking behind myself. Using this technique I have learned to go back and look at information and making sure I understand it just in case I want to repeat what I’ve learned. The meaning of these words stick to me mostly because I have a child at home so I use what I learn and put it to use with him.

· Recording your learning experiences for the purpose of reflection and further understanding

I’m somewhat confident in this. Normally I only record or write down info I learn in class. Again this summer I had experienced many things. The education conference was one of the best experiences I’ve had, I wrote so much down from the workshops. Even going to all the libraries and reading all the books I had to this summer, I wrote down the things I learned about each library and good books I could reference to others.

· Referring to those reflections and examining what you understood at that time while looking for connections to newly constructed knowledge and applying this new understanding to questions and problems

I am somewhat confident in this. I’m good at connecting my reflections to new things I learn. I think I’ve gotten better with this due to doing TT, TS, and TW. Once I’ve put what I know and what I’ve learned together I apply it to everything. Just like I thought a scientist was a weird, nerdy, glass wearing, lab coat, and scraggly hair guy but turns out anyone can be a scientists. So now I know if there is a problem or question I myself can solve it.

Middle: Explain things that are confirmed or changed or confusing.

· Re-examine “scientific words and phrases” that you remember, read, or hear from others. What meaning do these words really have to you?

I am confident in looking back over what I have learned in class such ass words, phrases, methods, etc. but I’m not yet confident in finding out the meaning the words have to me. I think like if I find a way to relate the words to everyday life or find how they are involved maybe I would be more confident.

· Recording your learning experiences for the purpose of reflection and further understanding

I’m more confident now because we actually have been taking the time to do a slight review of what we went over during the 4 hour period. Sometimes I think for me it takes that second time around to discuss something for me to actually remember it and process it so that I can record and write it down. Also sometimes just getting that extra check to make sure you didn’t leave it out anything.

· Referring to those reflections and examining what you understood at that time while looking for connections to newly constructed knowledge and applying this new understanding to questions and problems

I am more confident in this now since we’ve been doing the reading response journals. It’s like you make a text to self-connection. It’s basically like you are connecting a reflection from some time in your past that is related to what newly constructed knowledge you learned from that particular section. The more I look over my reflection the more I gain knowledge form them.

End: Explain why your ideas changed or didn’t change as a result of this class.

· Re-examine “scientific words and phrases” that you remember, read, or hear from others. What meaning do these words really have to you?

I am not confident in this any longer. There are so many terms that I have went over in my reading response journal along with others from the text but I don’t re-examine them. I have yet to see what kind of meaning any new words I’ve learned since the middle to now have. In order to improve this skill I should start making flash cards and having a reminder in my phone to at least go through them once or twice a week.

· Recording your learning experiences for the purpose of reflection and further understanding

In this class I have remained confident in recording my learning experiences. I think a lot of it has to do with our scientific notebook. Everyday I’m recording the activities we are doing along with what I’ve learned at the end of each session. I think this is definitely something I can take with me to other classes. Maybe not creating a full portfolio like book but at least taking notes and making connection along with seeing how I will input what I’ve learned in the classrooms. Many times I will just try to look back at the things I’ve done not being able to remember everything detail by detail.

· Referring to those reflections and examining what you understood at that time while looking for connections to newly constructed knowledge and applying this new understanding to questions and problems

I don’t think I’ve gotten any further in my confidence level with this but I feel that I’m using this strategy more if that make sense.

3. Relations

· Engaging in dialogue with others as we work together to deepen understanding – learning involves the community of learners

· Reflecting on how you are making sense of your learning process and science content both individually and as group

· Sharing your ideas (i.e. questions, thoughts, concerns, confusion, etc.) openly with others in group and class discussions so group thinking can occur

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking at this time.

· Engaging in dialogue with others as we work together to deepen understanding – learning involves the community of learners

I am very confident in this. First of I like to hear what others think or have learned from someone else. I also like to share my thoughts and get them out because it maybe what someone else is thinking. I learned that community plays a role in almost everything. Thinking of community makes me think of village and how it is taking a village to help me raise my son.

· Reflecting on how you are making sense of your learning process and science content both individually and as group

I am somewhat confident in this. I say that because I have found myself many times just making sure I understand something. I need to learn to ask my peers within my group do they understand and if not show them how I understood the content. Sometimes all it takes is for someone to ask that question.

· Sharing your ideas (i.e. questions, thoughts, concerns, confusion, etc.) openly with others in group and class discussions so group thinking can occur

I am very confident in this. I’ve always had a hard time standing in the front of class talking but sitting in a group I do so much better I don’t know why. I can openly talk to my peers and express myself. I think mainly it’s because I feel like we are all on the same level or at the same stage.

Middle: Explain things that are confirmed or changed or confusing.

· Engaging in dialogue with others as we work together to deepen understanding – learning involves the community of learners

I am confident in this because I like to work with people. I believe the more knowledge you gain the better understanding you have about something. If you’re in a group of 4 and each student comes with something different that’s 3 different points besides yours to help you understand the content being discuss and vice versa.

· Reflecting on how you are making sense of your learning process and science content both individually and as group

I am more confident than I was because I have been using my personal connections to help process what I’ve learned. When I can relate my experience to what I have learned I get a better understanding. This is why I think making connections are great because when you connect with something you gravitate more to it. You want to know more and you go out on your own to make more since of it and then you are able to relay it to your group members.

· Sharing your ideas (i.e. questions, thoughts, concerns, confusion, etc.) openly with others in group and class discussions so group thinking can occur

I am very confident in this because again I’m an extravert. I like talking to people and getting others to open up. Everyone has a voice they just need that extra push to open up. I find that sharing my ideas and then asking my peers questions such as what are you thinking, do you agree, or disagree. It at least shows that you care about what they think.

End: Explain why your ideas changed or didn’t change as a result of this class.

· Engaging in dialogue with others as we work together to deepen understanding – learning involves the community of learners

I’m still confident in this because this is the way for us all to succeed. Again we have to learn from somewhere. Every article we read and learn from or any dialogue we learn from someone else came from another person or they got help from another person. It almost reminds me of a food chain. The learning goes around in a circle almost and we talk around each other.

· Reflecting on how you are making sense of your learning process and science content both individually and as group

I am somewhat confident in this due to it being the end of the semester and everything seems to be crashing down on me at once. I feel as if I haven’t had the chance to re-examine things. I think that I do a good job when I’m not trying to focus on so many things. I also think I’ve done most reflection during this final project. Reviewing and looking back at the information that I have researched.

· Sharing your ideas (i.e. questions, thoughts, concerns, confusion, etc.) openly with others in group and class discussions so group thinking can occur

I am very confident in this because for almost the whole 16 weeks we have did nothing but work in groups. We have all at least once had to share our idea somehow. In every project I always am anxious because I know how much they’re worth. This causes me to express myself to make sure that I’m comfortable in what I’m doing and working on. I check myself and go over myself as well as my peers so that we can think and make sure things are good.

4. Rigor

· Becoming aware that learning is a complex multi-dimensional process and that we will have more questions than we can answer completely at this

· Finding some resolution to an “I-need-to-know” question while aware that there is always more to be learned about the concept

· Making inferences based on multiple observations and checking their viability in accordance with your understanding at that time.

· Developing ‘working explanations’ that synthesize what you are thinking, evidence from your investigations, and ideas from others

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking at this time.

· Becoming aware that learning is a complex multi-dimensional process and that we will have more questions than we can answer completely at this

I am very confident in this. I know that without frustration no learning take place. Nothing comes with anything easy. I also know that we gain more from asking questions instead of just getting the answer. I have found many times where a teacher has given me an answer but then when the test comes I’m looking stuck.

· Finding some resolution to an “I-need-to-know” question while aware that there is always more to be learned about the concept

I am somewhat confident in this area. Like I said before I’ve always been that I need to know right know, show me the solution, how did you get this. I have just in one week learned that there are steps to every single thing. I know that each week there is going to be more and it will somehow tie into something I learned the very first week or third week.

· Making inferences based on multiple observations and checking their viability in accordance with your understanding at that time.

I am somewhat confident in this area. I know that after observation I need to check with myself to see if I understood how I came up with what I did and how did it help me understand course material. Other than that I’m not too much sure on how to make good inferences or honestly what exactly it is even after looking up the definition.

· Developing ‘working explanations’ that synthesize what you are thinking, evidence from your investigations, and ideas from others

I’m confident in this area. I think that I’m confident in this area because I know that other around me may think otherwise so to get them to understand my think I need an explanation behind it. I know that in order to have an explanation it must involve evidence that I have discovered to support me and what I think. Explanation also includes what some of my peers may think and how it inter twines with what I have said.

Middle: Explain things that are confirmed or changed or confusing.

· Becoming aware that learning is a complex multi-dimensional process and that we will have more questions than we can answer completely at this

I am confident that learning is very complex and that I will have more questions than answers. I’m finding that the less answers you have the more your brain works. If I’m constantly being prepared for something easy how will I know how to handle something that is complexed. As I stated in the beginning no learning occurs without frustration.

· Finding some resolution to an “I-need-to-know” question while aware that there is always more to be learned about the concept

I am confident in this finding resolution to a question. My resolution is doing my own research. If I want to know something so bad I need to take actions into my own hands. Also I’ve learned that we retain things better when they are given to us in pieces and not a whole. If we shove everything in at once there is a high chance we won’t remember it all.

· Making inferences based on multiple observations and checking their viability in accordance with your understanding at that time.

I am still somewhat confident in this because I’m not sure what a good inference is. We just did a 3 round inquiry that involved how many drops a penny can hold. So before we started we just took the eye dropper and put a couple of water drop on the surface to observe what they would do. The water drops moved closer together due to hydrogen bonds so I think my inference would be that the penny would hold quite a few drops because the water will hold close together and not spread causing it to fall of the penny. Correct me if I’m wrong.

· Developing ‘working explanations’ that synthesize what you are thinking, evidence from your investigations, and ideas from others

I am very confident in this because it’s mainly using the evidence I have gathered from my investigation and turn that into a well written explanation. It also allows me to use scientific words that I have learned in order to make sure that I understood what I learned. My peers ideas are good for helping me question myself about determining whether or not my explanation makes since.

End: Explain why your ideas changed or didn’t change as a result of this class.

· Becoming aware that learning is a complex multi-dimensional process and that we will have more questions than we can answer completely at this

I’m still confident in this. Through every project we have went through a serious of steps. These steps include questions, claims, materials, procedure, evidence, and research. I’ve also learned to take my time instead of going through things. It has also taught me organization by breaking the things apart.

· Finding some resolution to an “I-need-to-know” question while aware that there is always more to be learned about the concept

I felt confident in this but once the final project came up I didn’t. We have now reached the point of independent inquiry but because we still work in groups everyone has an opinion on something. With there being so many different responses it makes me want to know from thr teacher what is really the right one. I guess if I worked alone I wouldn’t be adamant about having to have the right answer.

· Making inferences based on multiple observations and checking their viability in accordance with your understanding at that time.

I think I’m closer to being confident in this area. Sometimes you have observations before the experiment and then you have some after it. For my experiment the observations we had were at the end because we didn’t get the answers until after people actually tasted the water. This was able to help me better understand the results that I got within my data. I could tell why people voted for this or that.

· Developing ‘working explanations’ that synthesize what you are thinking, evidence from your investigations, and ideas from others

I think I am confident at this but at a low rate if that makes since. I think my research in the different projects have definitely improved. Sometimes I get answers from using my background knowledge but a lot of the time I have to research things so I do fully understand the evidence. I feel like I need to be able to find more peer reviewed articles as my source so sometimes I’m not always sure if I gaining the correct knowledge.

EDUC 224What I am Thinking Now - Expectations

Class Expectations:

1. Attend all class sessions. Notify instructor of absence by email and take responsibility to learn about missed experiences from your group.  In class credit cannot be made up.  Absences may lower your final grade because class activities require participation to earn points. See syllabus.

Beginning: If you don’t think you will be able to attend class on time and/or regularly,

explain the difficult you foresee so we can discuss it.

I am very confident that I will attend class. I am not one to rarely get sick nor is my son which I thank God for. Also my mom is my babysitter while at this class so she is very dependable and if not at least she lets me know in advance.

Middle: Explain your attendance pattern to date and whether you need to modify it for

the rest of the class.

I am still very confident in this one because I need this class and it’s my SECOND time taking it. I have managed to make it to every class thus far so I doubt there will be any change in that. Oh and my babysitters are coming in so clutch so I thank God.

End: If you had problems with attendance this semester, explain your situation here.

I have been able to attend every class so I’m still confident. Although lately I have been 5-10 minutes late I still have made it to class and stayed till the very end.

2. Participate fully in all class sessions by working collaboratively with peers, asking questions and taking responsibility for developing your "scientific self".

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking at this time.

I am very confident that I will participate fully, one because I need the participation points and also if I’m not participating them in not learning. I don’t believe in money being wasted nor my time.

Middle: How are you doing in this regard? Look at the Participation Sheet.

I am still very confident it this although recently about two weeks ago I got so frustrated with a peer during group work that I just shut down. I realized later on that it wasn’t exactly her that Ii was frustrated with but the problem itself.

End: If you had problems with participation this semester, explain your situation here.

I am very confident in this still. This class is very intriguing that I wouldn’t want to focus on anything else.

3. Type or word process all major assignments (double space,12 pt font, see guidelines in syllabus) and submit documents as instructed.

Beginning: Explain if this is a problem.

I am very confident in this because I’ve been writing in APA format for 2 years now so I don’t see why I would have problems now. Although every teacher has something different they teach in APA when there’s supposedly a guideline for it.

Middle: How are you doing?

I am very confident in this part. I haven’t had any comments regarding it so far although I’m struggling in another class on in-text citations so I’m meeting with Mr. Buckle to get help on that.

End: If you had problems with requirement this semester, explain your situation here.

I am somewhat confident in this because I feel like my reference page is not in the correct format. I’ve even tried using easy bib but I still feel like its not right.

4. Give each assignment enough time to apply your best thinking and writing skills. I assume that what you submit is your best work and grade it accordingly.

Beginning: If you think there will be a problem, let me know here and talk with me.

I am somewhat confident in giving myself enough time. As you can see I clearly didn’t give myself enough time. I’m still struggling with time management but over the summer I’ve learned a few things to help so I’m just going to apply them this semester.

Middle: How are you doing?

I am between somewhat confident and confident with this. I will say the harder assignments I have did good with applying my best thinking and give myself enough time I noticed with the class session response and reading response journals I’ve been rushing them.

End: If you had problems with doing your best this semester, explain your situation here.

I’m confident in this because I have did so well through the semester until the end but I will say the project and paper I did apply myself and give it time. I do feel like my notebook was rushed. (

5. Submit all work on due date.   See the syllabus for the late policy and assignment submission instructions.

Beginning: Explain if this is a problem.

I am very confident in this because I know your expectations for us. Also you don’t accept late work so I have no choice but to turn it in on time.

Middle: How are you doing?

I am very confident in this. I’ve been doing good this far with everything getting done and submitted on time there hasn’t been one assignment late and there WON’T be.

End: If you had problems with getting assignments in on time this semester, explain

your situation here.

I feel like I kind of fell off with this when Doc allowed us to turn all the assignments in on the last day. I did so much procrastinating. Although I have gotten it done I just wished I didn’t cram it all at once.

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking

I’m not very good with just learning on my own I always seem to have so many questions so I don’t prefer that too much. I like listening to what others say so I can ask question and see why they think that because it helps me get a better understanding. I’m not good with working completely by myself and figuring things out by myself because I like to know that I’m right or close to right. Working in groups or with others is the best thing in the world. I have always been a fan of feedback and listening to what others have to say. It teaches me a lot about a person depending on how much they say and what they say.

Middle: Explain why your preferences have or have not changed at this time.

I’ve never been a good note taker and it reminds me of having to learn on my own what is presented and I always feel I’m learning the wrong thing or that it’s not that important. I truly enjoy reading and listening to others explanations. It creates questions some of which I never would have thought of. All of this allows me to make more sense of the material. It has grown on me that researching about my investigations on my own can actually be fun. I love people and to be around them. I have always been very social so to actually do work with someone is fun and I get to hear others opinions or facts.

End: Summarize your thinking about this section related to this course. How might this experience influence you in the future?

This section I believe I had the most improvements. I dropped my score for the first one because I feel things need explanations and just throwing something on the board doesn’t tell me anything. Through this class I haven’t dealt with that at all. I’m still confident in reading through material and fully understanding it by asking questions to classmates or my professor. I so happy that my score has improved in this section. I’ve done so much research and investigations that I’m almost confident that I will do it in other classes in the future. Yes I love to work in groups with others and do investigations. It’s just fun to see the expressions on each person’s face when we learn something new. We always seem to learn new ideas and compare them to what we thought before.

I like doing thing individually to a certain extent. I feel working by myself allows me to think to myself and not let anyone influence me. Sometimes I might get stuck and want that extra help though. I don’t like group projects that give you a group grade because if someone is slacking it shouldn’t be put on me but if we’re a group then sometimes you pick up that slack to make you yourself get a good grade. I absolutely love group projects they are the best and I definitely agree we should get graded separately so that I know where I personally went wrong. I think quizzes and test are good but not too many. I think it’s good because it helps with comprehension which many struggle with. I’ve always loved to write and so I keep a journal with me. I believe writing how I feel, think, or question is how we can relieve stress.

Middle: Explain why your preferences have or have not changed at this time.

We have been doing so much group work in this class that I don’t even like to be by myself I feel lonely. When it’s time to write out things though I would like to work kind of by myself. I don’t like group projects where we get a group grade because if there is a slacker than it pretty much sucks for everyone. Group projects where we learn together and get graded individually are perfect and I think is the best route for things. I’m ok with taking quizzes and test as long as there is a good study guide provided, I normally do well unless it’d biology (rolls eyes). I love to reflect on what I learned and to write it down because I’m able to go back and normally apply those things to service learning.

End: Summarize your thinking about this section related to this course. How might this experience influence you in the future?

My rate has not changed at all throughout the semester. I think it’s still because I’m such a friendly person and I like to work with others. Most of the time I’m the youngest in the class so when I work with older people I feel there is always something they teach me when it comes to papers, labs, and assignments. My rate went up one because during the final project I learned that everyone has something to offer to make the project worth it being graded as a group instead of one person taking all the credit. It’s weird because I also feel like we should get graded individual on things as well. Honestly I think it depends on the assignment. Like as a whole we get graded on PowerPoints but I like how individually we get graded on research. I think my rate went down because I have gotten so used to being in this class and not sitting for an hour or more looking at a piece of paper. Again my rate did not change this whole semester because we had CSR’s throughout the semester where we talked about the classes and then we also did journal entries as well. I’m able to look back at that and use in my future.

Beginning: Explain the thinking behind your ranking

I like to listen to others but I won’t mainly because I know that what I have to say matters to. I like to talk in class when everybody is having discussions. I don’t mind talking in groups or just to one person. Those one on ones really be the best. I love groups and actually sharing things with each other. I like asking my peers questions even though they are not the teacher. Again I love the idea of groups but I’m not to the point where I want to be the leader of a group maybe an assistant leader lol. Again I have good confidence and don’t mind being in a large discussion to me it’s like being in a group that just got bigger. I completely hate standing up in front of the class presenting my ideas or a project. I just feel like all eyes are on me but I can share my ideas with the class sitting. That’s so weird to me though.

Middle: Explain why your preferences have or have not changed at this time.

I don’t like for people to think they can walk over me so I will normally have some type of input plus it shows that I’m engaged in what’s going on. Again I’ve gotten so used to constantly talking to a partner or group that I love it. I will always ask questions and share ideas because it’s the best way to learn more and say how you feel. As far as leadership I’m not really for it because sometimes I feel like I might be too pushy and I don’t want someone to feel offended by me. Large group discussions are just like small group discussions so I don’t mind it. I don’t think I will ever like presenting by myself. I presented once by myself in middle school and got a trophy for best presenter but I honestly think because my close friends were in that class and they rooted me on.

End: Summarize your thinking about this section related to this course. How might this experience influence you in the future?

My answer did not change the whole entire semester. I feel like if I don’t express myself then it shows that I have no interest in what’s going on. Everyone should be required to put some type of input in. Ever since we started the final project I have gotten really comfortable with just talking to the people within my group or just occasionally one member. I’ve always been super confident in talking in small groups because I feel like not everyone is watching me. I still rate this as a 4 because again I believe everyone should be required to have an input. We should all be sharing some type of knowledge with each other. Also I know everyone is not like me which is an extravert so sometimes I do feel the need to take leadership in order for people to open in the group. I have gained this type of confidence in my group with dealing with a member who is an introvert. I changed my number from 3 to 4 now because I learned that asking questions in a large group compared to a small group you receive more help. I believe the more help a person gets the more they will learn. I believe with presenting each round to the class for the final helped me gained some type of confidence in presenting my ideas to the class. I think this was a good help in preparing us for the final presentation.
