SRM University Students have been actively competing at AIU tournaments for the academic year 2016 –

2017. SRM University teams have been making their presence felt as a new team at various North-Zone and

All India Level AIU tournaments with their competitive performance and sportsman spirit. This year the

SRM University teams have so far competed at the following tournaments.

Cricket

For the first time SRM University Cricket (Men) Team competed in AIU North Zone Inter University

Cricket (Men) tournament 2016-17 organized by Chaudhary Charan Singh University, Meerut under the

Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities) from 21st November – 4th December 2016. Total

62 universities participated in North Zone Inter University Cricket tournament.

The team was accompanied by Dr. Amrish Tony (Deputy Director) and consisted of the following players

Ankush Jaglan (C), Shubham Bhardwaj (WC), Agam Mishra, Chetan Sharma, Kunwar Pulatsaya,

Shashi Bhushan, Devwarth, Mohit Saini, Pranjal Mishra, Mohak Madan, Abhishek Jha, Aman Relan,

Akshay Singh, Mohit Saini, Rahul Khareta, Sahil Sharma.

Volleyball

For the first time SRM University Volleyball Team (Men) competed in AIU North Zone Volleyball Inter

University 2016-17 organized by Punjabi University, Patiala under the Guidance of AIU (Association

of Indian Universities) from 13th Oct – 18th Oct 2016. Total 59 universities participated in North Zone

Inter University.

The team was accompanied by MS. Sonia Bathla (Assistant Director) & Mr. Pardeep (Coach) and

consisted of the following players Munish (C),Avinash, Vinay, Mehul, Vipul, Pankaj Tushir, Akshay,

Manan, Gokul Chopra, Yogesh Atole, Pukhraj & Sanjay.

Football

SRM Uuniversity, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana Football (Men) team competed successfully in the AIU

North Zone Inter University Football (Men) tournament for the year 2016 – 17 at Desh Bhagat

University, Punjab under the Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities) from 17th January

to 23rd January 2017. Total 66 universities participated in AIU North Zone Inter University Football

tournament.

The team was accompanied by Dr. Amrish Tony (Deputy Director) & Mr. Rahul (Football Team

Coach) and consisted of the following players Rahul Khapra (C), Abhishek Jain, Harsh Malik,

Anirudh, Ramit, Sarthak, Kartik Thakur, Shivam, Rakshit, Avinash Pandey (Goal Keeper), Aman,

Prayag, Rishi, Rajat Saroha, Anuj Tushir, Shantam.

Basketball

AIU North Zone Inter University Basketball (Men) tournament at Punjabi University, Patiala, Punjab

under the Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities) from 27th January to 31st January

2017. Total 63 universities participated in AIU North Zone Inter University Basketball tournament.

The team consisted of the following players Devansh Gupta, Abhishek Rathore, Lakshay Kapur, Kartik

Miglani, Raghav Sharma, Tejinder Singh (C), Rishab Garg, Praful and Yajpriya.

Boxing

SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana (Men) team competed successfully in the All India Inter

University Boxing Championship (Men) Held in Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar (Punjab)

from 30 January to 06 February 2017 under the Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities).

Total 169 Universities participated in All India Inter University Boxing Championship (Men) held at

Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar (Punjab) from 30 January to 05 February 2017. Mr Aakash

Dahiya student of B Tech (EEE) 4th year participated in the tournament.

The bouts were played on league cum knock out basis of three rounds of three minutes each under the rules

of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi. Mr Aakash Dahiya fought all his bouts in an aggressive

mood and defeated the opponents consecutively in four bouts by hard punching. The details of bouts fought

Best Physique

SRM Uuniversity, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana (Men) team competed successfully in the AIU All India

Inter University Best Physique (Men) tournament for the year 2016 – 17 at Panjab University,

Chandigarh under the Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities) from 6th February to 9th

February 2017.

Total 66 universities participated in AIU All India Inter University Best Physique tournament.

SRMUH player Deepak Tushir performed well in the first round. He was also crowned Mr. Delhi on 5th

February 2017.

Table Tennis

SRM Uuniversity, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana team competed successfully in the AIU All India Inter

University Table Tennis (Men) tournament for the year 2016 – 17 at Chitkara University, Himachal

Pradesh under the Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities) from 8th February to 11th

February 2017. Total 64 universities participated in AIU All India Inter University Table Tennis (Men)

tournament.

The team was accompanied by Dr. Amrish Tony (Deputy Director) and consisted of the following players;

Samarth Pathak, Ishan Roy, Raman Khoka and Saanel Bhatnagar.

Netball

SRM University, Delhi-NCR, Sonepat, Haryana (Men) team competed successfully in the All India Inter

University Netball Championship (Men) Held in SRTM University, Nanded (Maharashtra) from 22nd

March to 26th March 2017 under the Guidance of AIU (Association of Indian Universities). Total 55

Universities from all over India participated in All India Inter University Netball Championship (Men) Held

in SRTM University, Nanded (Maharashtra) from 22nd March to 26th March 2017. In the first round our

team played in an aggressive mood and defeated the opponents (DAV University, Jalandhar (Punjab). The

second round of match was played with much more experience team in this tournament Guru Nanak Dev

University, Amritsar (Punjab) to which our team lost after a tough fight.

The team was accompanied by Mr. Mohit Kumar (Sports Assistant) & Mr. Nikhil Rathee (Coach) and

consisted of the following players; Samarth Pathak, Munish Tamak, Tejinder Malik, Divrit, Kush,

Mohit Saini, Avinash Bagul, Naveen Jhakar, Pushkal Tiwari, Nikhil Gupta, Daya Shankar and

Saanel Bhatnagar.
