other than sending them to Smartlab. Don’t just do nothing ask

sitting for their coming O level

Listen to the teacher.
In what other areas do you believe has
SmartLab helped you?
Smartlab helped built my confidence and made me more discipline
in my studies, I could not have done it without the teachers here.
SmartLab Parent
How have you guided your child in the
preparation for the O level examinations?
I register my son for tuition classes to ensure that he understood what he
has learnt, to maintain his grades in subjects he is strong in and to improve
in subjects he is not good at. For example, though good in Science, I
persuaded him to take combined Physics and Chemistry tuition (at
SmartLab) from the start for assurance. He eventually had an A1 for the
subject. In particular I believe that the guidance during the last months is
crucial. I believe tuition centres are better equipped to prepare the
children. The smaller class size is definitely much more conducive for
concentration. The tutors are usually more sympathetic and patient
(probably because they see the children for a shorter time) and the
environment more relaxed because unlike schools which rigidly enforce the
fundamentals of the syllabus, tuition centres could present and enforce the
important points in a more interesting way.

I am still awaiting for school to start but I have been there and it is a
big campus. There are many CCA choices and the seniors are helpful
and good.

I felt more stressed out because I still did not know how to do some
questions.

Avoid last minute work. For tougher subjects, pay attention in class
from the start of Secondary 3 so as to build a stronger foundation.
In what other areas do you believe has
SmartLab helped you?
The tutors at Smartlab, especially Mr. Soh and Miss Hazel, were
very helpful and good. They provided questions and many practice
papers which helped to boost my confidence.
SmartLab Parent
How have you guided your child in the
preparation for the O level
examinations?
We made it a point to fetch Alfred from school, especially on days
when he had afternoon study sessions which end late. This helped
him to be less tired from travelling and to save time too. Studying
definitely took priority during O Level year.

It is awesome! I had been recommended SRJC by my seniors so I had
looked forward to studying there. The facilities are better than my
secondary school and I like my classmates very much.
Did you panic and feel pressured as the
O level was approaching?
Not really. The pressure I felt came 4 months before the actual
examination. As the day approached, the mood set in and the pressure
lessened. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to be prepared.

The method of teaching by Miss Hazel is very effective for me. Before I
joined Smartlab, I did not understand how some formulae work. With
Miss Hazel, if you don't understand, she will explain it by telling us how
you will not be able to derive the answer if you don't make use of the
formula. Understanding the formulae instead of just memorising really
helps in my study for A Math.
SmartLab Parent
How have you guided your child in
the preparation for the O level
examinations?
Zhi Jian's habit of studying is to be without disturbance so my husband
and I will set specific times for him to have his meals etc and after
which, we will leave him alone to study. Every now and then, I would
check on him and send him drinks and nutritious food to keep him
going. It is important to be informed of each child's studying habits;
some study in groups, some study alone. In doing so, we can understand
and help our child better and become more supportive in the process.
