Junior College Trip to Colorado/College Engagement

The Class of 2017 recently returned from a three day trip to visit four colleges in Colorado. We went to Colorado College in Colorado Springs, University of Denver, Colorado State University in Fort Collins and Colo-rado University-Denver. The students learned what it takes to get into these schools and had a blast! They had the chance to talk to college students who attend these colleges, meet college professors, and get firsthand experience in a college class. They attended a physics class with Professor DJ Bird Bear (Navajo Mandan Hidatsa Arikara) and ob-served a lesson in “Indigenous Sustainability” taught by Reed Zephier (Oglala Lakota) who is the Assistant Director the Fourth World Center for Indigenous Law and Politics at the University of Denver. The stu-dents also had a chance to talk to a NACA alumni at Colorado State Uni-versity, Joshua Wade, who is having a great time attending! The stu-dents had an intense game of Indigenous Jeopardy and ate pizza with the American Indian Students Services at CSU. A huge shout out to Mr. Flores, Jovita and Chuck who helped chaperone the trip!! Thank you for your support!
