NAB Delhi’s prime objective has been to make visually impaired persons both self-reliant and contributingmembers of the society.

National Association for the Blind Delhi has also been a pioneer in initiating services for children with visual impairment and additional disabilities since 1997. Centre for Multiple disabilities provides individualized intervention to multisensory impaired/deaf-blind children. It is also recognized as a Regional Learning Centre on Deaf-blindness (North) providing training on deaf-blindness to various NGOs working in the disability sector.

The organization lays special emphasis on education and skill development. NAB aims to send each and everyvisually impaired child into mainstream school. It highly advocates the concept of integrated education for social fulfillment. It also dreams to embed computer education and assistive technology into the lives of every visually impaired bringing them closer to the world. We ardently focus on qualitative education and skill development.

Since inception of the organization, education of visually impaired has been the core objective and the hard work of teachers and students make NAB Delhi education system one of the best. The Integrated Education (IED) is the core activity of NAB Education department. We send our students to many Public and Government schools like Tagore International, Kendriya Vidyalaya, DAV Public, Guru Harkrishan, etc., and provide Sessions of remedial teaching / enrichment classes with the help of assistive devices and specially developed Teaching Learning Material to maximise their learning. As part of our motive, education for all disabled children, we are in collaboration with National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to provide opportunity for those students who come late to the education system or have difficulty in continuing regular school.

was established in 1979, NAB Delhi is a non-profit

organization, which is working perseveringly since

inception for Blind, Low vision, Deafblind and Multi-

disabled of all age groups. It is registered under the

Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860.

Pre-Integration Unit

NAB develops a young 4-7 years old child's sensory and mobility skills to lay a strong

foundation and prepare them for mainstream schooling.

Integrated Education Unit

Aims to bring the blind and the sighted children close to each other from an early age, making them aware of each other's unique needs, potentials and strengths, creating better understanding and acceptance. We send our students to mainstream schools to ensure better future prospects and foster inclusion and growth

Multiple Disabilities Children who have visual impairment along with other

disabilities are provided intervention services by a team of dedicated Special Educators, Speech Therapists and other staff

Technology Training Centre

NAB Delhi is the most sought after centre providing computer training and assistive technology training to the blind persons of all age groups.

Digital Library

We are maintaining a digital library catering to the needs of visually impaired on all India basis. We have one of the biggest collections of books in DAISY Talking Book and eBook format.

Braille & LargePrint Press

NAB Delhi provides books in all format including Braille, Large Print, Audio or eBook.

Hostel Facilities

We have a hostel which accommodates 160+blind children belonging to poor families hailingmostly from rural India.

Affiliated to National Institute for Open Schooling and Indira Gandhi National Open University Study Centre

Transport Facilities

We provide Transport facilities to all the160+ blind children living in the hostel.

DAISY Revolution

NAB Delhi established the first digital book production facility and resource centre in South Asia. This Resource Centre also facilitated the establishment of digital talking book production and distribution centers in many South Asian countries including Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Pakistan

Computer Training

NAB Delhi established the most advanced computer training centre for persons with vision impairment way back in 1994. Since then this centre has trained thousands of persons who benefited immensely by way of being able to take up professional courses of study like MBA and MCA and get excellent jobs in companies like IBM and Wipro.

Integrated Education

Now the Integrated system of education has been adopted by the Government and many organizations for and of the blind

3Screen Readers inIndian Languages

Much after NAB Delhi initiated computer training for the blind, the facility to read and write on the computer remained restricted to English language. Realizing this NAB Delhi started a project for development of Screen Reading software for Hindi and other Indian languages. This project named SAFA was later supported by Media Lab Asia and resulted in re lease of fu l ly funct iona l software that is being used for reading and writing Hindi by thousands in the country.

Resource Centre for Deaf-blind and Multi Disabled

NAB Delhi is a leading provider of intervention services and teacher training in North India for children with multiple disabilities in addition to visual impairment. Multi Disabilities present additional challenges which our special educators have overcome in the last two decades.
