  • THE WHITE RIVER NATIONAL FOREST

    White River National Forest is the most visited national forest in the nation encompassing 2.3 million acres. With 11 ski resorts, eight Wilderness areas, 10 mountain peaks over 14,000 feet and 2,500 miles of trails, this forest is a great place to work and live. With more than 10 million visitors per year, the White River needs a solid staff of seasonal employees. We are offering summer positions working in botany, customer service, engineering equipment operations, fisheries, fire, forestry, range, recreation, trails, wilderness, and wildlife.

    THE DUTY STATIONS

    Fire Duty Stations: Eagle, Grand Junction, Rifle, and Silverthorne.

    Non-fire Duty Stations: Aspen, Carbondale, Eagle, Meeker, Minturn, Rifle, and Silverthorne.

    FISHERIES AND WILDLIFE – APPLY DEC. 01-11 Working across 5 different mountain districts, technicians participate in electrofishing surveys, genetic tissue sampling, eDNA sampling, tagging of non-native fish, monitoring of remote antenna array, hydrological flow modeling, and organizing logistics for long, arduous days in the field with partners and crews. Wildlife technicians help with field surveys during project planning and implementation as well as species monitoring. This includes terrestrial species surveys and terrestrial habitat improvement projects.
