GEA Heat Exchangers, Inc. in earlyJune introduced a new gasketed plateheat exchanger, the NW350 wide-gapplate.

According to PHE Systems SalesRepresentative Gerek Foote, it featuresthe highest pressure rating for all wide-gap or free-ow plate heat exchangerson the market today.

Wide ChannelsThe NW350 plate has wider chan-

nels and fewer metal-to-metal contactpoints than standard gap plates, saysFoote, which allows for easier passageof particulates and bers.

The wide channels also make iteasier to handle large capacities byminimizing the risk of erosion, he says.

Herringbone Embossing PatternThe NW350s herringbone emboss-

ing pattern is the chief difference from

    GEAs similar NF350 free-ow plate,which features a washboard pattern.

Foote states that the chevron cor-rugation on the NW350 plate allowsfor higher turbulence, which enhancesits efciency and run-time.

Plate heat exchangers can be dif-cult to clean; however, the increasedturbulence of the NW350 plate gives ita self-cleaning ability, adds Foote.
