Examinations

Students under Scheme I and Scheme II were evaluated based on the scores obtained by them in Continuous Evaluation, Practical Evaluation and Terminal Evaluation.

Continuous Evaluation scores were determined on the basis of the activities under taken by the students through the class room process based on pre-defined activities and indicators. These scores were monitored and attested by a team of senior teachers after inspecting each school. Up to 20% of the total scores were awarded through CE.

The practical examinations were conducted from 21st February 2012 to 7th March 2012. The practical examination question papers in each subject were prepared by a team of senior teachers representing all districts. The examinations were monitored by a Chairman for each subject and Chief examiners for each subject in each district. These examinations were conducted by external examiners. 20% of the total score is the maximum score for each practical paper. For music the total score for practical examination is 40%.

The examination results were determined by combining the scores obtained by the candidates in the first and second year examinations. The first year scores obtained by the candidates at the First Year Higher Secondary examination conducted during 14th March 2011 to 26th March 2011 and the First Year Improvement Examination conducted from 26th September to 30th September 2011 were reckoned for finalizing the results.

The Principals of Government and Aided schools were posted as Chief Superintendents of their respective schools.

The examination was conducted in 1924 centres. Of these centres, 9 each were in the Gulf and Lakshadweep and 6 in Mahe. Besides the Chief Superintendent, one senior external teacher was posted to each school as Deputy Chief and external Assistant Superintendent in the ratio of one teacher for every thirty students to each school for invigilation duty

The examinations were conducted in three schemes for 52 subjects. Besides these, examinations were conducted for special schools with special questions papers for 14 subjects and also for Kalamandalam Art students with 33 question papers. The question papers were set by eminent teachers who were given proper training based on Edumate prepared for evaluation, Source Book, pool of questions, model question papers, previous years question papers and their review.

Scheme Finalisation

Acknowledgement

At this moment this Directorate wishes to place on record its sincere thanks to the DPI, the DDs, their staff, the staff of the Secretariat, the HSAs and the PD teachers for their whole hearted co operation. It was their sincere co operation that helped this highly understaffed department to bring forth the results in time.

The timely preparation of numerous softwares, their maintenance and monitoring by NIC team made the whole process of examination simple and accurate. It is the strenuous efforts, co operation and timely intervention of the NIC under the leadership of Smt. Bindu S. Kumar and Smt Nissy George that made the whole process a complete success.

The sincere efforts and unstinted co-operation of the staff members of the Higher Secondary Directorate throughout the entire process of the examination work is noteworthy and highly appreciated.

The software prepared by Sri.Sajan Mathew, Sri.Sunil Kariadan, Sri.Sathian and Sri.Dileep needs special mention as their software simplified much of the strenuous and time consuming work associated with the examination.

The Regional Deputy Directors and the District Co-ordinators had rendered tremendous help and vigil in sticking to the time schedule during the whole examination process. I take this opportunity to acknowledge the tiresome and dedicated work of the camp officials in managing the valuation process which paved the way for timely publication of the result.
