PORTSMOUTH | Leoand Lisa Poisson have recent-ly opened what promises tobe one of the jewels of down-town Portsmouth.
Trillium Fine Jewelry, located on Market Street, unofficially opened its doorsat the end of April. The shopoffers a wide variety of jewel-ry including sterling silver, precious and semi-preciousstones, 14-karat white andyellow gold, sea glass andpearls. The store also offersservices such as jewelryrepair, watch repair and bat-tery replacement, as well asengraving.
Even though the shop justopened, Leo knows his jew-elry. He has been involved inthe family business for morethan 20 years. His father, LeoSr., is the owner of Quicksil-ver Fine Jewelry and Giftslocated in North Hampton.Leo said he had been lookingfor over a year for locationfor his shop when the spacebecame available.
“Portsmouth is a greatlocation,” he said.
The days of only receiv-ing jewelry as a gift are over, according to Leo. He saidmany women are now buy-ing their own jewelry toaccentuate their personalstyle.
“We’re focusing on cleanlines,” Leo said. “We’re try-ing to find colors and fash-ions at the right price. Whenyou come here you’re goingto find ‘one’ of something

that is different, not ten of thesame item.”
Among those differentitems will be several lines ofjewelry offered nowhere elsein Portsmouth. Trillium willbe offering jewelry fromLaura Gibson, Judith Jack,Nikolai and Sarda. So ifyou’re looking for thatunique gift for a specialsomeone, even if that specialsomeone just happens to beyou, you need look no fur-ther than Trillium Fine Jewel-ry.
And Poisson offers a com-pelling reason to shop at hisstore, rather than a larger, chain operation.
“Like all the shops here inPortsmouth we offer greatservice,” said Leo. “There’salways somebody that canundercut your prices, but
what makes a difference isthe service. It’s the servicethat you give, and the factthat you stand behind whatyou sell, that is important.”
Although the shop’s offi-cial grand opening will notbe until some time in June,Leo said the store has alreadybeen well received.
“We’ve had a great
response from both local res-idents and visitors to thearea,” he said. “We’re look-ing forward to serving boththe summer tourists as wellas the locals.”
