,Man is a natural born builder! he raises the most amazing buildings, and conti-nually dreams up the most innovative creations, such as that of the Water discus Under-

water hotel in dubai, set to become the first underwater hotel complex in the world. Or take, for example, the Webber Wave Pool, which will provide surfers with programmed world class surf breaks at any time of day! For generation upon generation, we homo sapiens continue to shape our own world, to fashion our own future. Will the Boosted Board—a longboard on track to become the lightest electrical vehicle ever—slowly revolutionise the way we travel short distances? Mankind’s inventions are sometimes useful, sometimes futile; but they all have one thing in common: they open up new horizons. these new ideas create experiences that keep us moving forward on a path that endlessly leads us further, higher. slackline enthusiasts, or Manu Bouvet and his companion, Carine Cam-boulives—who set off in search of idyllic spots for stand Up Paddle in the Polynesian islands of tuamotu—would most certainly agree. As we are all irresistibly drawn towards the future, each of us is looking for our place, our own little corner of paradise, our means of escape from the daily routine. some set themselves new personal challenges by taking off on a mountain endurance trail, such as the all-new Matterhorn Ultraks. Others hone their social skills, or seek contentment in a bubble, or dive heart and soul into the waters off Mauritius. to each his or her own anchor. A multi-sport devotee by nature and par excellence, 30º also sees itself as a builder. A builder of bridges—between disciplines, between people. through the vast array of challenges chronicled in its pages, it provides, in three languages and on paper as well as on the iPad (with multiple bonus features), a truly contemporary picture of the world which foreshadows that of tomor-row. treat yourself to a subscription, or gift one to a friend, and join us on our never-ending journey of discovery!

The lunar landscape of the Tibetan plateau as seen through the windows of the "Sky Train" linking Xining to Lhasa. The trip lasts over 22 hours, and the train reaches an altitude of over 5000 meters. Since the train is not pressurised, and the high altitude may be felt, the train is equipped with a system that releases oxygen into the carriages.
