ENTRANCE ANTIPHON

ORDER OF WORSHIP WELCOME

The parishioners of St. Andrew Catholic Church are happy to extend a warm welcome to the many visitors who join us for worship today.

Guidelines for the Reception of Holy Communion

As Catholics, we fully participate in the celebration of the Mass when we receive Holy Communion, the

true Body and Blood of the Lord. Yet, we Catholics should receive Holy Communion only when we are living in communion with the Catholic Church and in the state of sanctifying grace and have made the appropriate fast from food and drink. Because of the connection we draw between being in full communion with the Catholic Church and receiving Holy Communion, we cannot invite those who are not Catholic to share in Holy Communion with us. Still, we welcome all to this celebration of the Mass as our brothers and sisters, and pray that our common baptism and the action of the Holy Spirit will one day draw us closer “…that all may be one.” (John 17:22)

Second Collection Next Week Bishop's Annual Appeal This annual campaign is a primary source of funding to help sustain and expand ministries in the 96 parishes, 21 missions, and 34 Catholic schools and agencies throughout the diocese. As stewards of God's gifts, you are asked to support the

needs of our diocese through your PRAYERS. You are also asked to share your TALENTS by volunteering for parish or diocesan ministries. Finally, all members of our diocese are asked to make a SACRIFICIAL GIFT through a pledge or a one-time donation. Your gift to the Bishop’s Annual Appeal helps to sustain Catholic schools, parishes, programs of religious education and campus ministry, and initiatives to foster vocations as well as respect for life. Additionally, through its support of Catholic Charities, the Appeal serves people in South Carolina and abroad whose lives are affected by natural disasters, illnesses, hunger, and economic hardship.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Precious Blood of Christ invites all who are interested in deepening their prayer life and intimacy with God to a presentation by Keith Barron, PhD, called “St. John of the Cross, St. Teresa of Avila, and St. Therese of Lisieux – Contemplative Prayer and Mysticism in the 21st Century”. It will be held on Sat, Sept 30th at 10am at the Parish Life Center – 1633 Waverly Rd, Pawleys Island.

CATHOLICS FOR FREEDOM OF RELIGION (CFFR) welcomes everyone to join them on Mon, Sept 11 for the 26th monthly PATRIOTIC ROSARY FOR AMERICA. It will take place at 3pm at Warbird Park at Market Common. CFFR will be joining other prayer groups

Then, at 6pm that evening CFFR will host the viewing of the movie The Pledge in St Andrew CLC. “It is a story for today’s generation about the price of freedom and is about a NYC born-and-bred teenager who moves with his family to a sleepy town

in West Virginia where he is accused of vandalizing a memorial statue of a fallen soldier and sentenced to community service at a local veteran’s residential home. It is there that he learns the profound meaning of loyalty and sacrifice”. It is a wonderful and inspiring movie for the whole family. Snacks will be served. For more information contact Carol Jean Walters, Director, SC CFFR by e-mail [email protected] or phone 843-236-0162 or 631-926-0995. PARISH MINISTRY CONTACTS CATECHISM OF THE CATHOLIC CHURCH

Big News! The Catechism of the Catholic Church is back in the Pews! 7,534 went home already!

One of the greatest achievements of Pope John Paul II was the promulgation of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. This Catechism will serve as the standard for all future catechisms. “A sure norm for teaching the Faith”, as the Pope said.

Please take and study this Catechism in your own home.

This Catechism costs $5 each. Inside the front cover of each book you will find an ENVELOPE as follows:

Dear Sister or Brother in Christ: This Catechism of the Catholic Church is a most handy summary of the Faith that we profess as Christians. We hope you will take it to your home and read it. We would thank you for helping out with the costs of this ministry - at $5 for each copy of this Catechism - if you are able to donate that amount (or more, or less) by placing your donation in this envelope and then into the collection basket. Be blessed in the study of your Catechism.

Contact phone numbers are for parish use only.
