The students seemed to have a lot of fun get- ting wet, and we received highly positive feedback from the camping staff as to the conduct of our students. I always feel very proud when I hear how well our students represent us when they are away from the school. I am sure we will have a similar situation when our Year 3/4 camp to Anglesea takes place next week. I am looking forward to taking part in this camp and spending the week away trying to surf with our 3/4 students! Curriculum Day Just a reminder that you have an extra-long weekend with your families as we have our Annual Curriculum Day next Tuesday 12 th March which we share with each of the other Moorabool schools. We will be focussing on the teaching and learning of Mathematics, in particular how we maximise engagement in our Maths lessons and how we plan lessons to maximise student learning growth. Other events this week: Tuesday 5 March – Year 3-6 Science Incursion Tuesday 5 March – Parent-teacher students interviews Thursday 7 March – F-2 Western Water Incursion Thursday 7 March – Special Lunch Day Friday 8 March – Clean Up Australia Day afternoon Welcome BBQ (Take #2) It was a shame to have to postpone our welcome BBQ last week due to the heat. Please note, that we have re-scheduled this to Tuesday 2 nd April. A not went home to Foundation and New Families explaining the change of details. It will be great to cele- brate and welcome all new families on this day. Japanese Skype Last Friday, it was fantastic to sit in on part of the Skype lesson with our Year 5-6 students and the Japanese class at Mukai Machi Elementary in the Yamagata Prefecture (see photo). It is great for our students to engage in authentic conversation practising their learnt Japanese language, as it was for the Japanese students to converse in English. Well done Ashi Sensei for facilitating this wonderful learning opportunity for our students. Have a wonderful fortnight everyone. Message from the Principal

Camps Our Year 5/6 students had a highly successful camp to Kyneton two weeks ago. EASTER RAFFLE One of our major raffles for the year is our school Easter Raffle. We ask that each family donates 1 item for our raffle. This inturn gives us many items to raffle. Raffle tickets will be sent home early next week. There is a book of 10 tickets sent home per family @ $1.00 each. Extra tickets are available at the office if you would like more. This is drawn at our last assembly on Friday 5th April. Can you please return all sold/unsold tickets to the office.

WEEKLY ADVERTISING Our school is offering advertising space in our newsletter. The fee (for a business card size ad) is $15 per term or $50 per year. Please contact Karen in the office. Thank you to our advertisers on the back two pages of the newsletter. Should need any work done, please look to see if they can assist you.

PIE WARMERS Can you please ensure that if you require cutlery for a pie warmer that you supply a fork/spoon in your child’s bag. Also, many pie warmers that are coming in are in quite large containers and are taking up a lot of room. Can you try to put these into smaller containers if possible.

HATS Many children are leaving their hats at home. Just a reminder to leave hats at school in your lockers.

LOST PROPERTY The Lost Property Box is already overflowing, and many jumpers without names. Please ensure all clothing is clearly labelled.

BOOK FAIR

Thank you to everyone who made purchases at our recent Book Fair. We sold books to

the value of $3,337 which allows us to purchase $1000.00 worth of books.

Our School Sports day will be held on Monday 1st April at Bacchus Marsh Little Athletics Centre, Masons Lane, Bacchus Marsh. This involves 3 other Primary Schools (St Brigids, St Patricks School, Gordon and Balliang East PS. All parents/grandparents are invited to attend. Parents are to drop off and pick up their children directly at Masons Lane Reserve by 8:45am and pick up at 1:30pm. Children are to wear blue shorts and a white t-shirt or polo top.

Please ensure your child has plenty of drinks, sunscreen and food. We will be operating a Canteen on the day (including a barbeque).

A Canteen Pricelist will be sent out closer to the date A coffee van will also be available for nice coffees, hot chocolates, latte, milk shakes etc.

Should you have any queries, please contact our school office. We require helpers to run the canteen on the day. If you are available for an hour,

can you please complete the form below and return asap.

Come along a nd join us for this year's Ballan Autumn Festival on Sunday March 17th. It is a fun filled day

and we would like you either walking behind or sitting on the float/truck. This year's theme is "Academy

of Magic", so you are invited to dress up as a wizard, witch, magician, fairy, dragon, black cat, owl or any

other magical character or creature.

You may pay by cash using the individual envelope provided. Please enclose correct money as no change will be given.

Sibling photo envelopes will be available at the school office upon request. THESE PHOTOS WILL BE TAKEN DURING SCHOOL, ON PHOTO DAY, USUALLY AT RECESS - Please instruct siblings to attend the photo studio during this

time. Photographers are unable to search for students who do not attend.

Do not seal envelopes inside each other. You may include payment for all children in one envelope, however, please indicate on this envelope the names of all the children you are paying for.
