Before the bell:Grab a blank piece of paper from one of the tables or the windowsill.

Draw this image on your blank piece of paper. You need to add a symbol that represents oils/fats (pat of butter; oil can) to you and a symbol that represents “extras” to you (extras are cake; cookies; ice cream…the good stuff!)

On the back of your paper, you need to make 8 columns or boxes with the following titles:Fruits DairyVeggies Fats/OilsGrains ExtrasProtein Combos(You will be writing info in the columns/boxes.)

In your “food group” think of at least 4 more examples of your food that we have not listed.

Page 4: MyPlate

Look at your top 5 favorite foods…Figure out which food group they belong.

(example: cupcake = grain)

Page 5: MyPlate

Create a one day menu using the list of foods you have made on the back of your plate.

Requirements for Menu:

• 3 meals + at least 1 snack• At least 2 foods from each

group (fruit; veg; grain; protein; dairy; fats/oils)sometime during the day.

• Pick foods you actually like! • Optional: Add in an extra!
