Executive Summary

Dear Partners, On behalf of the Ministry of Construction and our co-organizer – the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry – Sphere Conferences is proud to announce that the 2nd edition of Myanmar Urban Development Conference (MUDC) 2014 and inaugural Real Estate Show Myanmar (RESM) 2014 were a resounding success! Being Myanmar’s 1st Real Estate & Urban Build platform, the two-day conference brought together about 200 decision makers from 12 different countries with the same goal of understanding what opportunities Myanmar has to offer. We had the honour of having H.E. U Kyaw Lwin, Union Minister for Construction, H.E. U Set Aung, Chairman, Thilawa SEZ Management Committee and H.E. U Hla Myint, Mayor of Yangon grace the event as guests-of-honour. Opening on such a high note, the conference saw many networking activities and lively discussions surrounding 2 separate tracks – centered on Myanmar’s urban development and the real estate sector respectively. Topics such as the Myanmar Urban Blueprint and the much-awaited Condominium Law, presented by the Ministry of Construction; Towards Yangon 2040 – Bettering standards of living and the quality of life, presented by the Yangon City Development Committee; Future currency regulations and their impact on real estate investment in Myanmar, presented by the Central Bank of Myanmar; Preserving and protecting Yangon’s unique heritage, presented by the Ministry of Construction; amidst many. Numerous global perspectives were also presented by our international speaker faculty comprising practitioners from the Department of Town & Country Planning, Ministry of Interior, Government of Thailand; ISOCARP; Surbana International Consultants; Urban Redevelopment Authority of Singapore; UN-HABITAT, Myanmar; the list goes on... In our midst were also the sector’s movers and shakers – the likes of Capital Diamond Star Group, City Mart Holdings, DP Architects, Qingjian Realty, SANY, Shwe Taung Group, SPARK, Yoma Strategic Holdings and more, who were there to share experiences and initiatives, going forward. As you look through this post event report, we urge you to use this as a measure of our effectiveness in helping you reach your target audience in this sector. Referring to the attendee analysis, media coverage and pictures of the events, we hope you would be convinced that we are your ideal partner in establishing your brand in Myanmar and join us in 2015. We would like to thank our sponsors and partners for your support in making this event a success and look forward to being the mainstay events in Myanmar’s real estate and urban build sectors. Thank you, and see you next year! Yours sincerely Myanmar Urban Development Conference | Real Estate Show Myanmar 2014 Team
