All of these writings compile me as a person from my grade year of school. Without these

people being involved in my life, these writings wouldn’t be nearly the same as they are now.

The most influential people in school to me are my parents. They push me to end to get good

grades, no matter what the cost. Without them, I might slack off and not accomplish the things

I need too. They are the will that guides me on. I am just so thankful to have such great parents

that care about me as much as they do. They inspire me everyday to do my best, and that

couldn’t be any better of a blessing.

Biographical Sketch for Part One: Freestyles

This section of this book is definitely my favorite part. I express all my feelings as a writer the

best when I have the freedom to write whatever I want. That is why freestyle writings are my

favorite. They explain whatever thoughts I had at that time and place. However serious or silly

they are, they tell my life. Looking over the year, I look over these freestyles and amuse myself

wondering what I could have possibly been thinking at that point in time.

The Castaway’s Journey

Mick Trout was a English fisherman whose boat was shipwrecked on an inhabited island. He

was the only survivor of his shipmates. He survived off of coconut milk, oysters, and whatever

fish he was able to catch with his leftover nets. One day he was exploring the island’s forest and

came across an injured monkey. His left leg had been broken and he wasn’t able to walk at all.

Mick picked him up and carried him back to his living area. There Mick nursed the monkey back

to health and named it Leo. On their 268 day on the stranded island, they spotted a boat in the

distance. Mick began to jump up and down and yell at the top of his lungs. He started his signal

fire and made as much noise as possible. The boat began to turn and started heading their way.

They were rescued and were on their way back to England. When they returned to England,

Mick and Leo were famous celebrities. They both starred in a popular British T.V. show based

off their journey together on the island. They two enjoyed and great life in which they got to

spend together.

Cold Morning in the Woods A gunshot rings through the morning air. My heart skips a beat as I see its hind legs kick out. I

hit the deer! As it crashes through the woods and out of sight, my mind races. I have to calm my

emotions. I sit in torture for half an hour, wanting to give the deer time to get a good distance

away, so I won’t spook him when I start tracking it. I climb out of the ladder, not able to wait

any longer. My legs are stiff and rigid. This is why I did all the hard work preparing this spring

and summer. Clearing the field from last year’s old plots. Setting the cameras. Spreading all the

seed to in the hot sun to make sure the field is even. Restocking the feeders every Saturday

morning. As I approach the scene, what I see isn’t pretty. Bits of bone are mixed with the blood.

I must have hit shoulder. I kick the dirt in frustration. I was sure that I had made a clean shot.

This means that the tracking will be a bit longer than I would have liked. I set out through the

trees and branches, following the trail. 300 hundred yards later, my hope is beginning to

distinguish. The longer he goes on, the more likely he will be to survive. I find a small tree and

see a large amount of blood on it. The deer must have stopped to rest here. One false move

and the deer could tear open the wound even more, and it would be game over for my antlered

friend. Another two hundred yards and I’m started to get aggravated. My chance for the buck I

had been waiting for the shot at for over two years. The beast had been first spotted in my

cameras the spring two years ago. He was a solid eight, but you could tell it was an immature

deer. The next year he was again seen eating corn, and was now a ten. I had a chance to bag

him that fall, but couldn’t let myself pull the trigger. I wanted to see how big he could get. This

year he skyrocketed, and I knew that was all he was going to grow. This was the year to do it. I

just had to blow it away. I here noise in the distance. I look in the direction and see what I

couldn’t believe. My wounded friend was at the top of the ridge, crashing through the woods. I

have my gun up on him and following him with an insane focus level. I he comes to a stop all of

a sudden. My crosshairs steady on the target. He could bolt any second. My adrenaline is on

high and I can barely control it. I take deep breath and take the safety. One shot, do or die. I

take a deep breath and slowly pull the trigger.

Deep Under the Sea

I wish I was a fish, down under the sea. Where I could see many amazing things. Things many

other people would ever get to view. Such as other fish that I had never seen. Seen until then, I

might add. Adding would be something I wouldn’t have to do. Doing math isn’t a part of a fish’s

lifestyle, despite their groups being called schools. Fish only need food and water to live, and

everything a fish can do is what they may wish.

Now, if I was this fish, I would have lots of fun. I’d just have to make sure to not get too close

to the sun. Sunshine helps light show the way for all the fish near the surface. I wonder if all the

fish can see at the bottom of the water. If all of them can, some of them probably stick to

higher water to stay safe from the things at the bottom. Things that even science haven’t found

yet, but all the fish are aware of these creatures. The Loch Ness Monster may even be deep in

this murky darkness. Myths that we may never be able to know are true or not. Something even

more dangerous than Nessie may be down there along with it. Some answers are always

hanging in the air, to be or not to be answered.

Traveling to the Past

I would go back to when the dinosaurs were alive and inhabiting the Earth. I would go back to

this time because I have always been fascinated in dinosaurs because of their humongous and

oddly shaped bodies. I would explore the land when I was in that time, trying to see if there was

any new species or type of animal that science has not discovered yet. I would also search for

signs of civilization across the land, to see if there were any type of people that lived. Maybe

they were like cavemen, who were brutes but not very bright. Maybe they couldn’t even talk to

one another because they never found a common ground in which they could both understand

what each other was saying. They lived together and worked together, hunting and killing their

prey as a team when never actually knowing what the partner was thinking at that time. What a

weird way to live. These people could be able to work together each other’s lives, being best

friends, but never being able to express what they feel. It’s actually very sad. It would be like

one boy really liking a girl, and the girl really liking the boy, but they couldn’t tell each other

how they feel. But they would still understand the way they felt about each other, and there

was nothing they could do about it.

Train Attack!

The train lights flicker a little, and then they go out. Boom, Boom, Boom! Gunshot noise rings

through my eardrums. I immediately fall to the floor, and crawl under my seat. What is going

on? A train robbery? All of a sudden, the gunshots stop. Heavy footsteps pound their way up

the aisle. I hold my breath as the footsteps pass my seat. I hear a man yell, “Hit the Lights!”

Soon after, my vision is restored as color fills the room. As I suspected, I see men with wearing

masks and holding pistols. Thankfully, few of the passengers seem to be injured. The robbers

must have went for the train’s crewmembers. They begin checking the rows for civilians. My

stomach clenches because they can’t miss me in the position I am in. I know I will have to jump

the guard to not get caught. As the man gets to the row in front of me, I pounce on him low. It

takes out his legs, and I punch him in the face before he has time to react. He is out colder than

a meat locker. I take his gun and hide back behind the seats. I peer around the corner, and see

that there are only two more robbers left. I single out the one closest to me. When the other

man looks away, I hit him over the head with the pistol. Another one down, now there is just

one left to handle. As I walk up behind him, I stumble and fall to the ground. The noise the

robber and he spins around. He points the gun right on my heart, and I know it is now or never.

I lunge at him and hit his forearm with the butt of the pistol. He drops the gun and I kick him in

the back of the knee. It gives out and I punch him in the face, watching him drop after it

connects. I did it! I saved the train from being robbed!

Biographical Sketch for Part Three: Miscellaneous

These are writing pieces that I really enjoyed writing, but couldn’t find a good title that could

sum up all these writings together. There was no one topic that all these writings could adjoin

too. They were all writings I enjoyed though, and I couldn’t leave these out of this book. They

are just too important to me. I also think the readers will enjoy this section, so this is another

reason why I left these writings in this book.

Lord of the Flies

The only rule I would have on the island I ruled are that there are no rules! If you respect me

and follow my lead we will have a great time together and have a lot of fun. If you disrespect

me and don’t follow my lead, I will be a strict leader and will make the island a miserable place.

That is why the people of my island will have to follow everything I say for them to do. If they

don’t, the consequences will be very severe and harsh. You do not want to see what I have in

store for the people that act out.

The Pressure on Me

All the pressure I have on me to do good in school and make all A’s. My parents push me very

hard to get really good grades in school. I go home and have to study every night and I always

worry about tests and if I’m going to do good on it or not. Just being able to relax and do

nothing and not have to worry makes me very happy. I have something sports related almost

every weekend through the spring and summer, which isn’t exactly resting at home, but it lets

me blow off steam and hang out and have fun with my friends. Spring break couldn’t have

come at a better time, because I really need to rest and regroup before I go back to the

dreaded place called school. Those are the reasons why I enjoy spring break so much. It lets me

have the fun I want to have, and at the same time it lets me relax and take time off that I need.

Page 14: My World in Words

Decisions, Decisions

Whenever I went to the movies last weekend, I had some decisions to make. I wanted to be

able to go to the movies, watch the two college basketball games on that day, considering that

it is the elite eight, and be able to sleep in. It was quite a schedule to fit in to one day. The

basketball games started at two p.m. This meant I could wake up at one, take a shower, eat

breakfast, and then watch the games. After the second game was over, I got in the car and

went to the seven o’clock movie I wanted to see. The game ended about five, so we went to

Logan’s Steakhouse before the movies to eat. We left the movie theatre at nine, stopped for

some ice cream, and then headed home. We arrived home about ten. I had such a great time

that whole day. It was definitely a well time managed day.

12 | Page

Page 15: My World in Words

Growing Older

I feel like as I get older and more mature, I will start to feel more depressed, because I know

that before long my life is going to end. I will have lived a good and healthy life, but I don’t think

that I will be able to handle that sadness of growing old. I will look back and think of all the

things I never got to do that I wanted too. I will also be sad because I will have to see other

family members pass on to their graves. It will just be sad as an old person, because you lose so

much of your past live.

13 | Page

Page 16: My World in Words

Following the Rules

I have to follow many rules, some that I like, and a lot more that I don’t like. The purpose of

those rules is so that things stay in order and that I don’t get in trouble. My life would definitely

not be the same without rules. The world would be a different place without rules. There would

be more crime than anyone could ever imagine. Criminals would flood the streets and hurt and

kill innocent people. Nobody would be safe and would have to hide in their homes in fear of the

crime outside. That is why we need rules on this Earth.

Biographical Sketch for Part Two: Symbolism and Human Actions

This section made me dig deep into my mind to decide what my input would be on these topics.

I talked about things that had real thought put into them. There was no joking around in this

section. Everything came straight from the heart and had my true meaning. These writings are

very humbling to look at and think that I actually wrote these.

Working Together

Picture this: You and a couple of friends want to go get something to eat for dinner. Pizza and

Mexican food are the two options to eat. Both your friends like both, but they seem to be

leaning towards the Mexican. That would be fine with you, but you had just eaten at that

restaurant the night before. You don’t say anything for a while, because you don’t want your

friends to suffer just because of you. When they ask you what you want, you say that if it’s

alright, you would rather go to the pizza place. Then you explain that you had eaten Mexican

food last night and didn’t think your stomach could handle two days in a row of it. Your friends

agree on the pizza place because of your situation. You all go there and enjoy it. Working out

problems isn’t always a hard thing to do. You just need to be polite in the way you ask and most

of the time, the problem can be resolved. Sometimes even just speaking your mind in a nice

way to someone can fix all the problems that you are facing at that particular time and place.

Why join a Group?

Why do people choose to join groups? People choose to join groups for many reasons. Some

people join a group because the group is focused on a certain topic that they like, such as the

chess club or FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). People might join a group because their

friends were in the group or their friends wanted to join that group. People choose to join

groups because they want to do things that will help them something, like homework or maybe

to make friends. Some join groups to impress colleges that will end up looking at their resume.

They can do things like community service that can make colleges more interested in you. There

are many reasons why a person would join a group. It can be something as little as just trying

something new. Or it could be as important as getting into a good college and making your life

a much better place than it could have been.

Work Hard, Play Hard

After my eighth grade year of school, during the offseason of basketball, I hit the gym almost

every day with the indent to improve every aspect of my game. From strength and speed to the

fundamentals, I planned on getting better. I lifted, shot, ran, passed, and sweated my way

through that summer. I was proud that I pushed myself as hard as I did. The rewards I received

were amazing. I gained 30 pounds on my bench and 20 on incline, as well as 45 more on squat.

My vertical was four inches higher, which really pays off when you are skying for a rebound. On

came my ninth grade year in school. During that season, my game was taken to the next level. I

averaged sixteen points, which was a team high. It was six points more than the next leading

scorer. I also averaged 5 rebounds and 4 assists. My coach was very impressed with what I had

accomplished. Nobody was more impressed than me. I may not have enjoyed having to put in

all the work, but it was so worth it. After this season, I have a new respect in myself that I never

knew would be there. It proves that you can do anything you set your mind to with the right

attitude and work ethic.

18 | Page

Page 21: My World in Words

Accepting Your Peers

People don’t always accept others in their group because they might smell funny, act different,

dress like a star wars character, or constantly quote movies. They may also not be accepted into

the group if they are new to the school. Before you shun one of these people, talk to that

person for a little while. Get to know the person better. You may find something out about the

person that you didn’t even know about them. I have an example of how actually talking to the

person can be the start of a friendship. Until sixth grade, I hadn’t even met one of my best

friends. In the grades before sixth, I never even talked to this kid because I thought he was

weird. In sixth grade, this kid ended up in my class. Towards the beginning of the year, I talked

to him a little. As the year progressed, we started talking more and more. By the end of the

year, we were best friends. My point is, don’t just assume that a certain person is not a person

you would most likely hang out with. Otherwise, you might not ever meet one of the best

friends that will ever be in your acquaintance.

19 | Page

Page 22: My World in Words

Power and Protection

I would symbolize power, because the human population holds power over the whole world.

Out of all the living things in the world, the humans have taken control over Earth and are

building It up, but also tearing it down at the same time. We tear it down by polluting it with car

and factory fumes. We treat our natural resources care-free. We treat life on Earth like it’s

nothing. If something doesn’t change soon, our futures as people on Earth will be awful. We

have made steps backwards in trying to preserve our great planet. Recycling is the biggest

contributor in preserving Earth, but too many people aren’t locked in on recycling. Some people

just don’t care about Earth. If everyone was dedicated to go green, that effort would be a lot

more suitable for the planet. Instead, people litter and treat their place to live as if it is a

garbage hole. They should be thankful to just live on a beautiful place this. Without respect

from everyone and more contributors, the planet will be burned into the ground, and all the

careless people will be headed down with it.
