All your connections to eKBL are secured by a double protection mechanism:

• An https secure-mode connection meeting the highest standards currently in force on the Internet,

• an access requiring an ID number, a password and an electronic signature generated by a Cryptocard.

Protect your means of authentication

• do not give your access codes to anyone,

• memorise your password,

• immediately report to the bank any attempted fraud (e.g. the bank will never ask you to transmit your access codes) by contacting your Private Banking account officer during bank opening hours.

Protect your computer

• install the software necessary to protect your Internet connection (antivirus, firewall, …),

• only install reliable programs,

• do not open emails from unknown senders or attachments that may contain viruses

• Password protect your modem or router.

• do not use any non-secure WIFI connections.

Be cautious on the internet

• do not download files on the Internet that may transmit viruses,

• be particularly careful with messages from your bank as some hackers falsify electronic addresses claiming they are your bank and redirecting you to fake sites to extort confidential information,

• read warnings and error messages very carefully.

Get all the security advice whenever you want it by clicking on the “Security” icon in the bottom right of each screen.

Before opening a session with your bank,

• close any programs you have open,

• launch your browser and don’t open any other sites or programs,

• always access the secure application personally by typing the Internet address https://ekbl.kbl.lu yourself and not using the link that you may have in a mail or in your favourites,

• never access eKBL through other entry points: search engine, internet address in an e-mail, no matter who sent it.

During the session with your bank,

• check the Internet address and make sure that it always starts with https://ekbl.kbl.lu, that a padlock appears in your browser (sign of a secure Internet session) and that if you are using Internet Explorer 7 or Firefox 3 the green address bar showing the bank’s identity is clearly displayed,

• read all error messages carefully and contact your Private Banking account officer or Personal Banking if you have any doubts.

After the session with your bank,

Correctly close your session by clicking on the “disconnect” button. After being idle for 10 minutes, eKBL will close the session automatically and you will have to retype your ID number, password and Crypto code.

Only use secure sites for your financial or confidential transactions

Theoretically the address of a secure Internet site begins with « https » ; the « s » standing for « secure ». The Internet site is certified by the EV-PRO certificate that activates the green address bar in the latest versions of highly secure Web browsers, like Explorer 7, Firefox 3, …

The EV-PRO certificate complies with the SSL TRUE 128-bit certificate standards and is validated each time you visit the eKBL site. This allows you to benefit from the most reliable SSL transmitted data encryption currently available.
