Downloading a font was very important for myself as for a masthead it had to be effective and unique. This can be seen from my choice of masthead and hopefully the effective nature it has. Also that it has the correct connotations I was hoping for.

2. Firstly I used the website www.dafont.com to find the right font for myself. After finding this you download the font onto the computer by extracting all the files associated with it.

3. Afterwards it involved having to enter the font part of the server of your computer and adding it to the font list making it available on all programs. However you have to remember that if you are using a different computer every time to produce a different part of the magazine then it would be better suited to save all the files on to a memory stick in order to be able to use the font on any machine you work on.

4. This makes the font available on all programs and can be found on the drop down boxes of word, photoshop and fireworks etc…

Opposite is a template of Adobe Photoshop 6.0 which I used to create all the pages of my magazine. It allowed me to easily manipulate images, control graphic design and insert shapes, also to insert text and by using the brush tool change the background of images and the background of the actual layer. The control of images is also easier as you are able to insert them along the bottom of the screen and use them when necessary. There is an extensive use of tools available and of which I made full use of.

These four tools are probably the tools that I most used The first being the ability to move different layers of the project. Also the magnifying glass was also necessary when needing to focus on smaller aspects of the production and also the pipette allowed me to use certain colours over and over again

This was also another vital part of the production as it allowed me to easily select the parts of the image and layers that I needed. This meant that the manipulation and selection were a lot easier meaning the production was able to form a lot quicker and with more precision.

The above tools enabled myself to insert text into the different layers and appropriately place them in necessary places. The right hand tool was also part of the manipulation of images as it allowed me to crop parts of them and re use them where necessary.

This is the brush tool which came in especially handy when editing the double page spread as it helped me to erase the background and keep the artist the main focus point

The shape tool also become a vital piece of production as it allowed me to insert the boxes which were predominant on my contents page.
