The specific activity was organized by the Greek Ministry of Education in cooperation with ADAE (Hellenic Authority for Communication Security and Privacy, link: www.adae.gr) in the ground floor of the Ministry’s Headquarters. It was carried out in 2 main parts. In the first part, after the welcoming of ours, a computers’ specialist introduced the students to the world of computers through a brief but very vivid historical flashback (1st attested pc in history, evolution, shapes, capacities, uses, etc). In part 2, the second lecturer talked specifically about internet: safe access, users’ rights when surfing online, pros and cons of its use, mine traps and ways to get pro-tected on time, etc. Urged them to run a certain .exe file on their laptops – containing a hidden virus – and letthem try to cope with the chaos it caused, before helping them out.

Both parts were a mixture of presentation, discussion, videos and activities (with the useof the laptops available and the smart board) during which the students activelyparticipated and had fun.

Before leaving … At the end of the activities the students were given 2 separate brochures. The one, for the students, contained useful tips and ad-vice on how to surf online with safety using different devices, whereto call/email in case of cyber bullying, etc, and, a list of links with educational material, which they can safely access anddownload. The other one, for the parents, is a quick guide about all thelittle things they need to know in order to provide safe internet access to their children and protect them.
