What is Global Warming ?
A slow but sure escalation in the overall temperature of the Earth's atmosphere generally attributed to the g r e e n h o u s e e ff e c t caused by increased levels of carbon dioxide, CFCs, and other pollutants is called G l o b a l Wa r m i n g .Back to

CausesOne of the most
prominent causes of the Global Warming is the G r e e n h o u s e E ff e c t .

Greenhouse Effect
Greenhouse EffectThe partial trapping of solar radiation by a planetary atmosphere, similar to the trapping of heat in a greenhouse.B
ack to TOC
When greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide, methane, chlorofluorocarbon(CFC’s) etc. trap the outgoing solar radiations of the sun reflected by the surface of the earth and do not allow the heat to escape then this is known as greenhouse effect which causes GLOBAL WARMING.
15IPCC
The frequency of heavy precipitation events has increased over most land areas
- Rainfall in Mumbai (India), 2005: 1 million people lost their homes
16IPCC
Intense tropical cyclone activity has increased in the North Atlantic since about 1970
- Hurricane Katrina, 2005: up to $200 billion cost estimate
17IPCC
More intense and longer droughts have been observed over wider areas since the 1970s, particularly in the tropics and subtropics

What can be done ?"As a society, we can
blunt the worsening of global warming by immediately cutting back on our wasteful energy usage. If we do nothing, the effects will be much worse."
