What have you learned from

audience feedback?

Here I have included a clear example of our audience feedback on our album cover from our web 2.0 software. This was very

helpful in being able to see whether or not we was successful in targeting our audience and how we could improve. However on

this production the feedback we received was purely positive. We had good comments made revolving around the colours used

and how professional our album cover looked. This clearly shows the impact our ancillary task has had on our target audience

and the successes we encountered throughout the creation.

Negative feedback r

ed…

Here I have included some negative feedback we received. One of the constructive criticisms was from a male

commenting on our album cover. From this he stated that it was ‘too girly’. This in some aspects was seen as a positive as

our main audience in which we was targeting was primarily females. However, in terms of our print advertisement one of

the comments stated that our advertisement lacked in colours. This in many lights is true, and is something in which should

be developed. However we decided to create our print advertisement like this to portray to our audience the personal

feelings in which our artist showed throughout the creation of our music video.

What have we learnt from feedback?Based on audience feedback we found that our print advertisement needed to be

changed due to the fact that it was too dark. This without audience feedback would

not have been recongised. From this, it was decided that we would change our print

advertisement to something much brighter which corresponded hugely with our CD

front cover.

Therefore, based on research we found that our audience would probably take to

something which was considered ‘different’ in terms on conventions of the Pop genre.

Where our previous print advertisement was too different, we decided to keep our

new one simple. Therefore by adding the CD as the main focus point to our

advertisement. By using the same colours and maintaining our artists appearance, I

believe we created a print advertisement which is hugely representative.

After we created our new advertisement, we decided that organising a focus group

would give us in depth accurate feedback of our production as the people we asked

were focused around our primary audience. From this, we would be able to

understand our audience further, and see if the creation of our new digiapk was a

success or not.

What would we have changed based on

audience feedback?

Based on our audience feedback, it became clear that our

print advertisement was perhaps too dark for our audience,

and that more colours would have brightened up our

advertisement and made it clearer for our audience.

Therefore this needed to be changed to give our audience

the advertisement they wanted which would attract them

more. This process helped hugely in the understanding of

our target audience and what they liked and didn’t like.

It was also decided that we should change our back

cover to correspond closer with the rest of the

digipak. As we understood that our new print

advertisement would have to be a lot lighter, we

found that changing our back cover to match this

concept would also be beneficial. As the dress our

artist is in is black, we decided we should put her

in a patterned bright dress to change the feel of the

back page. We also changed the writing techniques

on the back to italics as that attracted our female

audience as it was considered to be very feminine.

Focus Group…

Here I have included a video of some students from our target audience. When creating this focus group, I was hoping to achieve

positive audience feedback on the creation of our ancillary task and music video. This helped hugely in the understanding of my target

audience further, and I therefore reallised that as a group, we had targeted our audience very well. Based on this focus group, we found

that our use of colour was something in which attracted our audience, and the narrative/performance style of music video appealed to

them further. Overall, based on feedback I believe that our productions were successful in targeting our audience whilst still maintaining

a professional level of work.

Changes made…Based on the audience feedback we received, it was decided that our

print advertisement was too dark, and that our target audience may not

understand the reasons as to why we chose to do it that way. Therefore

we made clear changes to our print advertisement which I believe made it

look more professional, and allowed it to correspond a lot more with our

CD front cover.

After this was created I conducted the same survey using Facebook to

see if the changes made were representative of our target audience.

Based on the feedback it was made clear that the changes made were

representational as the comments said that our digiapaks ‘colour

schemes contrast well’, and our ‘layout clearly fits its purpose’. This

helped hugely in knowing whether or not we were successful in our

changes made.

Concluding

Audience feedback allowed us as a group to understand what needed to be

done in order to create a music video alongside our ancillary tasks in which

would be hugely conventional of our target audience. Overall, our target

audience feedback helped hugely in the changes in which were made to our

ancillary tasks throughout their production. Even though this was not recorded,

feedback from our target audience throughout our production kept us focused

around the task in hand. As shown to the left, we created a Web 2.0 Facebook

account as we understood that this was one of the main social networking sites

for our target age group. which therefore ensured feedback. If we was to

complete this task again, I believe that target audience feedback would play

more of a significant role, as had we had more time, the changes in which would

be made to our ancillary tasks all originated from our audience feedback.
