Introduction: “Ten Hop!”
Say; “Today we’re hearing about Jesus and ten men. The ten men all had sore places on
their skin that were red and would not heal. Jesus helped the ten men. He made their skin
better. The ten men were happy, but only one of the men thanked Jesus. Only one of the men
praised God for the wonderful thing that God had done for him.
Say the first verse of the rhyme printed below. Then have everyone hop as you count one
through ten. Say the second verse of the rhyme. Then have family members hop and shout the

“Ten Hop!”
How many men came to Jesus?
How many men did he see?
How many men came to Jesus?
Count and hop with me.

The Read With Me Bible

As Jesus was going into a village, ten men met with Him. They had a skin disease. They called
out, “Jesus! Master! Have pity on us!” Jesus saw them and said, “Go. Show yourselves to the
priests.” While they were on their way, they were healed. When one of them saw that he was
healed, he came back. He praised God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and
thanked Him. Jesus asked, “Weren’t all ten healed? Where are the other nine?” Then Jesus said
to him, “Get up and go. Your faith has healed you.”
Discussing the story:
Ask: What was wrong with the men who called out to Jesus? How many men were there?
What did Jesus tell them to do? What happened to the men? How many men came back and
thanked Jesus and praised God?
Say: Jesus healed all ten men. But only one man came back to say thank you and praise God.
We can thank Jesus everyday for all the wonderful things He does for us. We can use our mouths
to say “thank you”, pray to God, and sing praises.
Pray: Let the children take turns “thanking Jesus” for one special thing. End the prayer by
thanking God for each child.
Closing Prayer/Echo Prayer: Have the children repeat the words after you.
Dear Jesus,
I love you.
Help me be a good listener!
Teach me how to give to God and others.
Amen.
Craft Activity: Have children color the man. Show them how to put their fingers in it.
Bible Activity
Mouth Ball
Do: Use a box, bucket, or tub. Play the mouth basket game.
Talk About:
What do we need to do with our mouths?
Who should we praise with our mouths?
Remember to let only good talk come from our mouths.
I am so thankful God gave me my mouth!!
FAMILY FUN TIME
Thank You Bites
Give each family member an empty cup and a bag filled with ten pieces of food. (grapes, goldfish,
pretzels, etc.) Have each person count the pieces as he/she transfers them into their cups.
Then have them take and eat the pieces one at a time. Lead your family in saying “thank you”.
Say “Thank you” each time they eat a piece. Talk about the one man who remembered to say
“thank you” to Jesus.
Bible Activity: This game is similar to Duck, Duck, Goose
Not Thankful; Not Thankful; Thankful (Adapted from: Wiggly Giggly Bible Stories About Jesus; Group; 1998, pg. 62)
Seat everyone in a circle. Choose one person to be “IT”. Say: “One day, Jesus met ten lepers on the road. They
asked to be healed. Jesus told them to go see the priest. On their way there, the lepers were healed. Nine of them
ran away home, but the tenth man came back to thank Jesus. Who was the thankful one?”
Have IT walk around the outside of the circle tapping those seated on the head. IT says,: Not thankful, not
thankful” as he/she taps the children on the head. When IT taps a someone and says “Thankful” that person jumps
up and chases (walks quickly but no running) IT around the circle back to the empty space. Then everyone in the
circle says, “Thank you, Jesus.” Let the next person be IT. Play until everyone has a turn.
