My MCBS Story
By Kaycee SmithNMT Class March 2014
Before I started the MCBS Program I was trying to figure out my next step in life.
I had always thought I would know exactly what I was supposed to be doing and be right in the middle of that career
by the time I was 30.
But then I turned 30…
…and after trying several different routes I wasn’t there yet!
I had just quit a job I loved and moved to a new state…
…to be with my family during a difficult time.
Because of that I had some soul searching to do as far as what my next career move would be. Until finally I narrowed it down to the idea of working with a
creative team in the media world. This was actually the sort of job I had just left.
Seven years ago I kind of fell into a position, in which I worked as a project manager and video producer for a creative team. I realized that in the past 10 years this particular job
was the one I enjoyed most from all the others. It was where I felt most fulfilled.
However, with no formal education getting back into a position like this somewhere else proved challenging to say the least, if not impossible. I
needed a degree.
But I didn’t want to go just anywhere for this.
I wanted the best education I could get.
I wanted to go to a school that had a strong reputation and would give me an edge in the industry.
That’s when Full Sail and the media communications program came on the scene!
I knew I wouldn’t find a better place to start my journey toward getting back into a career I love. And ever since I decided to pursue my passion for media
at Full Sail, I’ve had a strong sense that I’m walking in the right direction…
…that’s a good feeling!
