Summer reading club launch 2013/14 Join us at the launch of the children’sSummer Reading Club

Enjoy a summer full of reading adventures for all ages.Bring your child’s library card*, register for the club on the night and receive a kit with a logbook and goodies inside. We’ll have fun with a fairy, balloon twisting and temporary tattoos.

Reading through summer is fun! And there are great prizes to be won! Every library branch will have a weekly draw.

Have your logbook stamped at least 3 times during summer and your final stamp between 16 January and 19 January and then book for the Certificate Presentation Night and free show. The Presentation Night will feature a hilarious, side splitting, interactive comedy/mime performance by Carpe Idiotus on 23 January 2014. Major prizes for this year’s club will include 3 iPod shuffles and entry passes to the Koala Park Sanctuary, the Reptile Park, Australian Museum, Powerhouse Museum, Featherdale Wildlife Park, Taronga Zoo and Australian Maritime Museum.

Attend the launch or visit your local library at any time after the launch to enrol.

Gingerbread house makingCome along with the whole family and be guided in making an amazing gingerbread house for the Christmas table.

The sessions cost $32.00 per family. The cost includes all the materials – house, icing, lollies, silver foil board, cellophane and ribbon.

Christmas PantomimeThe Hare and the Tortoise

Be entertained by our very own cast of talented performers as they bring to life the well known fairy tale The Hare and the Tortoise.

Lots of refreshments and a special appearance by Santa.

This is a family event for ages 7 and under. The cost is $5.00 (children under 12 months and adults free). Children under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Investigate Ancient History with Dr EgyptDr Egypt’s Archaeology Adventures

Have a blast with Dr. Egypt’s Archaeology Adventures workshop and be an archaeologist for a day! You’ll be taken through an archaeological investigation of an ancient Egyptian tomb, searching for the mummy! Be challenged as each team completes all the archaeological tasks to discover the secrets of Ancient Egypt revealed by the relics.

Ages 8-12. Cost $9.00.

Dr Egypt’s Marvellous Mummies

Join Dr Egypt on a fun, interactive, entertaining and educational workshop about the mysteries of mummies. You’ll be taken on a journey to visit a real archaeological dig in Egypt and then engage in a fun and hands-on experience to piece together Egyptian artefacts. Try writing in hieroglyphics, reconstruct the pottery and decode the bones and inscriptions of Ancient Egypt to learn all about their fascinating funerary beliefs and practices.

Ages 5-8. Cost $9.00.
