FAQ’s:
What is International Baccalaureate (IB)? IB is a College Prep Program for 11th and 12th
graders that includes volunteer work, looks at global issues, and provides the opportunity for college credit
IB MYP (Middle Years Programme) is for all 9th and 10th graders and provides a framework for academic challenge and life skills with a global perspective in mind
All MPS High Schools except South and North High have IB (they have Advanced Placement-AP courses)
FAQ’s: What is the difference between South
Open, South All Nations, and South Liberal Arts? All of these programs are very similar... South Open is based in 4 principals (democracy, authenticity,
academic challenge, and choice) and focuses on critical thinking skills through experiential learning (projects, teamwork, independence, etc.), social justice, building community, and lifelong learning (basically think Montessori!)
South All Nations is a program made specifically for American Indian students and has unique classes such as Ojibwe language, Native Arts, with a focus on giving back to the Native community as well
South Liberal Arts is like most high school classroom settings with community service hours also attached to graduation requirements (for Open and All Nations as well)
