My Idea Process Report

At first, when I know that we must do a musical performance, I was thinking about the cartoon movies that I watched when I am a child. And I need to relate to the towel, which is our group object given. And after I have done the mind map and brainstorming of the object in our class, I know that it can be use as a carpet, turban, ‘sarong’ and as a cape for example the superman’s cape. But after I have done some research, then I decided to combine the Aladdin movie with the present concert, the annually K-pop award and concert.

First, I need to know the real meaning for SCAMPER. Then by understanding, I need to generate ideas about my object and also the musical performance. I need to know where the towel can be used as. Then, I need to have a conclusion about the role of my objects in my own idea musical performance. Next, I need to choose the song and sound, the background as well as the costume highlight. We need to make a poster about our own musical performance , so I need to mind mapping about the details that I will be putting in my poster later. Then, I need to doodle and explore the backgrounds because I think that the background is the important as it would captures the attention of people easily. Before I present the poster, I need to select the best phrases, background and details to put in.

A mind map of understanding on SCAMPER

Substitute

I can transform the towel into a carpet, turban, cape and a towel bun.

Combine

I combine ornaments with towel, string with towel, button and strips cloth with towel, feather, brooches with towel and panda make up with towel.

Adapt

I copy the turban from Aladdin’s hat, the carpet from the magic carpet, the panda make up with ears from panda, the cape from Aladdin’s costume and cape from Crayon Pop(Korean singing group)costume.

Modify

Instead using string, I can use colorful shoelace. Instead heavier, I use thinner and lighter towel. For people to sit, I multiple the amount of towel which act as carpet.

Put to other use

Other than becoming turban, carpet, cape and towel bun, towel also can be as the hair cover and sarong.

Eliminate

Due to expensive pure feather, I will use artificial feather. Instead of using high cost make-up, I’m using the face painting color.

Rearrange

If I cant get the ornaments for carpet, I will create myself using cloth cut into strips

If I cant get the artificial feather, I will change to the long type brooches .

From doing this project, I have learnt that what is a SCAMPER and how does it actually help us a lot in thinking and generate ideas. Next, I know that to create a new great idea, you need to do more research so that you can know what actually people hope to see of and from there you start to create new ideas.
