especially for poor sinners … It is for them that the Blood
and Water flowed from My Heart as from a fount overflowing with mercy. For them I dwell in the

Divine Mercy SundaySaint Faustina Kowalska was a Polish nun who shared her devotion to Jesus as the Divine Mercy. She wrote the messages she received in a diary and the devotion be-came quite popular. If you’d like to know more about this devotion there is a website where I found this nice expla-nation: www.thedivinemercy.org/message.
e Divine Mercy mes-sage is one we can call to mind simply by remembering ABC: A – Ask for His mercy. God wants us to approach Him in
prayer constantly, repenting of our sins and asking Him to pour His mercy out upon us and upon the whole world. B – Be merciful. God wants us to receive His mercy and let it flow through us to others. He wants us to extend love and forgiveness to others just as He does to us. C – Completely trust in Jesus. God wants us to know that the graces of His mercy are dependent upon our trust. e more we trust in Jesus, the more we will receive.
Amen? Amen.
THE READINGS FOR THIS WEEK
Jesus, I trust in YouActs 5:12-16
Psalm 118:2-4, 13-15, 22-24Revelation 1:9-13, 17-19
John 20:19-31
“A week later, the disciples were once more in the room, and this time Thomas was with them. Despite
the locked doors, Jesus came.” – John 20:26
We have a Church full of doubting omases. As omas later became a great missionary and martyr, so these doubting omases today are called to renew the face of the earth in the power of the Holy Spirit (see Ps 104:30). However, they must first be trans-formed from having little faith to having strong faith.
We have a Church full of fearful disciples. ese Christians acknowledge that Jesus is risen. How-ever, because these disciples are locked in fear (see Jn 20:19), the doubting omases of the Church find it difficult to believe the fearful disciples. Fear feeds doubt, and doubt makes us more susceptible to fear, which makes our doubts worse, trapping us in greater fears and uncertainties.
Jesus broke this very vicious cycle by personally challenging omas’ doubts and leading Him to faith. When omas cried out: “My Lord and my God” (Jn 20:28), he prepared the way for the recep-tion of the Holy Spirit by Jesus’ disciples at Pentecost. Because the Holy Spirit is not a spirit of fear but of faith (see 2 Tm 1:7), aer Pentecost Jesus’ disciples were fearless in leading others to faith, fearlessness, and greater faith. Fearlessness feeds faith.
Because you are alive, you are either in a cycle of fear and doubt or a cycle of fearlessness and faith. On this last day of the octave of Easter, come to the risen Jesus, Who will put you in the cycle leading to eternal life.

How do we know that God is merciful? In many passages in Sacred Scripture God shows that he is
merciful, especially in the parable of the merciful father (Lk 15)
who goes out to meet the prodigal son, accepts him uncondi-
tionally, and celebrates his return and their reconciliation with
a joyful banquet. [1846, 1870]
Already in the Old Testament, God says through the
prophet Ezekiel: “I have no pleasure in the death of the
wicked, but that the wicked turn from their way and live”
(Ezek 33:11). Jesus is sent “to the lost sheep of the house of
Israel” (Mt 15:24). Therefore he eats with tax collectors and
sinners, and then toward the end of his earthly life he even
interprets his death as an initiative of God’s merciful love:
“This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for
many for the forgiveness of sins” (Mt 26:28).

St. Gianna Beretta Molla (1922-1962)In less than 40 years, Gianna Beretta Molla became a pediatric physician, a wife, a mother and a saint!
She was born in Magenta (near Milano) as the 10th of Alberto and Maria Beretta’s 13 children. An active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, Gianna earned degrees in medicine and surgery from the University of Pavia and eventu-
ally opened a clinic in Mesero. Gianna also enjoyed skiing and mountain climbing.
Shortly before her 1955 marriage to Pietro Molla, Gianna wrote to him: “Love is the most beautiful sentiment that the Lord has put into the soul of men and women.” She and Pietro had three children, Pierluigi, Maria Zita, and Laura.
Early in the pregnancy for her fourth child, doctors discov-ered that Gianna had both a child and a tumor in her uterus. She allowed the surgeons to remove the tumor but not to per-form the complete hysterectomy that they recommended, which would have killed the child. Seven months later, Gianna Emanuela Molla was born. The following week, her mother Gianna died in Monza of complications from childbirth. She is buried in Mesero. – www.americancatholic.org
PARTICIPATING IN THE JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
The message of The Divine Mercy is simple. It is that God loves us—all of us.
And, he wants us to recognize that His mercy is greater than our sins, so that we will
call upon Him with trust, receive His mercy, and let it flow through us to others.
Thus, all will come to share His joy.
This Sunday afternoon, Apr. 3, we will be praying the Divine Mercy Chaplet as a parish in the church at 3 PM, the hour of Mercy and the hour of Christ’s death on the cross.
Please join us as we pray this communal prayer and partake in God’s limitless mercy.

GRADUATE SIGHTING: Recently I went to dinner with friends at a restaurant in Mason. After I was seated at the restaurant, a graduate from St. Cecilia School, class of 2015, saw me and was so kind to approach the table and say hello with her mother. My friends thought that it was so sweet that the student, Tara Mcgrath (photo, above), was willing to come up and say hello. I truly appreciated it as well, Tara! 1
PRAYING THE STEPS: On Palm Sunday, we prayed a rosary while climbing the steps at Immaculata Church. I had two newbies (photo, left) that hadn’t ever prayed the steps. Here we are after making it to the top. This is a great tradi-tion. 1 FR. SMITH: Recently, I went to the Mercy Health—St. Theresa nursing home in Mariemont to visit Fr. Smith (photo, left). As always, he greeted me with the usual patented smile and cordial greetings. He is such a gentle-man. Fr. Smith sends his greetings and wishes everyone a Happy Easter. If you ever have some time to visit Fr. Smith, I know he would appreciate it. 1 PALM MONDAY: Since some of our students do not attend Catho-lic Mass over the Palm Sunday
weekend, we do a Palm Monday service so that they can be part of the palm procession and hear the Passion reading. It was a beautiful, sunny day so we started with the blessing of the palms outside (photo, above) and processed into church.
I was very proud of the students who read during the service. They were very well prepared. CHILD OF GOD: Welcome, Avery James Woodall, son of Vince and Stephanie Woodall (photo, left). Vince is our Director of Business Affairs at St. Cecilia. We baptized his second son on
Palm Sunday. 1 BEER SHOW: I am part of the Queen City Chapter of the Beer Collectors Club of America. Every year we have two shows at which we buy, sell, and trade our brewery collectibles. The collectibles could be beer cans, beer bottles, signs, coasters, mugs and many other related items. The items date from the 1880s to the present. The brewery history here in Cincinnati truly makes it a lot of fun. There are so many neat pieces from Cincinnati brewer-ies from the past and the present. This year at the show, I purchased a rusty vintage sign (photo, below) from the Burger Beer Company, dating to the 1950s.

Cookies for Kairos As part of the Kairos Prison Ministry, there is an upcoming retreat for the men in Lucasville State Penitentiary. This four-day program, modeled on the Catholic Cursillo, is a life-changing,
soul-saving experience for many of these men who may have never had Christ in their lives.
“The people who donated, cooked and served the wonderful food are a key part in making this weekend a success because some people hear about the cookies and good food and that’s all they intend to get from this weekend. But while they’re there they end up hearing something that resonates with them and makes them a believer. And I say this from personal experience. Sincerely, thank you.”-Jordan, Southern Ohio Correctional Facility
It is a Kairos tradition to give every inmate and prison employee two dozen home-baked, prayed-over cookies. That’s 48,000 cookies. You are invited to be a part of the Kairos Prison Ministry by baking cookies. Cookie bags, with specific instructions, will be available at next weekend’s Masses. The baked cookies need to be dropped off in the back of church the following weekend by 11 AM on Sunday, Apr. 17. Parishioner Jerry Davis, who is involved in this ministry, will be delivering our cookies to Lucasville.
