As a 40Km long mountain road between Manhangjae Pass to Hambaek Station, Untangodo Walkway was used to transport coals during the period 1960s~1980s. It was the hidden power that led the industrialization of Korea for half a century. Untangodo Walkway means a high path that transports coals, but it also refers to a path on the plateau where clouds look like a carpet.The area spanning Hwajeollyeong Pass, Larch Walkway, and High1 Hotel & CC introduces the history and culture of coals, so visitors can trace the footsteps of an old coal culture.Untangodo Walkway is the only mountain path in Korea that runs along the hill and ridge at 1,100m above sea level. It is a beautiful healing tourist attraction where visitors can see several hundred species of wild flowers and rare alpine plants.
