Eucharistic Adoration We are in need of a night time adorer for the 2AM-3AM Thursday morning hour.
“I love my nighttime hour, there is nothing like arriving to adoration in
the peace of the night. Just as the busyness has come to rest outside in the world, I find the busyness of my
mind has come to a rest and I can hear with more clarity what God wants to say to me. To know that
I alone come to be with him during that hour wakes me and brings me back week after week. I
know he is waiting for me there.” - Long time middle of the night adorer
Adoration is open from: Tuesday 9AM-Thursday 9AM in the Cry Room
If you are interested in signing up for a regular weekly hour of Adoration or have any questions,
contact Gloria 357-6939 or Joyce 357-4410.
Prayerfully consider whether the Lord is calling you to spend an hour with Him each week. Any hour is
open for an additional adorer or two.

Suicide · Loss through Pregnancy or Infant Loss · Loss of Sibling/Parent
Keynote Speaker: “A Glimpse of Heaven” Deb Hadley is from Alexandria, MN, and is the mother of Kaylie (24) and Tyler (20), who passed away tragically 9 months and 2 days apart. Deb has lived and continues to live the life of a grieving mother. However,
she has turned her life over to God, found hope in the midst of the devastating storm, and has used her tragedy to help thousands grow in
faith to love and serve the Lord. The Lord asks us to use our experiences to help those who suffer in the same way. Through the Wisdom of the Lord, His grace, and promises,
Deb will help you to not only “survive” your grief journey, but provide you with the tools to “thrive” as you place your Trust in the Lord.

Twelve youth and four chaperones will join me and hundreds of other Catholic youth from the upper Midwest as we celebrate our Catholic faith through talks, music, prayer, daily Mass, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, and fellowship. The theme of this year’s conference is REVEALED, understanding the love of God revealed to us in Christ: “In this way the love of God was revealed to us: God sent His only Son into the world so that we might have life through him” (1 John 4:9). Please pray that our youth’s hearts are opened to a deeper relationship with Jesus during this powerful weekend!

2 Corinthians 12: 9
From the Pastor’s Desk
Brothers and Sisters in Christ,
One of the most beautiful parts of being Catholic is the relationships we form with the saints. From the time of our Baptism to our Confirmation, to the specific devotions to saints that we adopt through the years, we are gifted with these relationships to remind us that we are connected, through our faith in Jesus Christ, to the holy men and women who have gone before us.
When we adopt a saint as a patron for ourselves, it’s noteworthy to point out that it’s not just us who choose them – they choose us as well. The saints want a relationship with us so they can help us on our way to Heaven through their prayers and example. They reach out to us and invite us into spiritual friendship with them. Over the years, I have had several saints make their presence known to me in very powerful ways. St. Odilia and Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati are two such saints.
St. Odilia was a saint that I first learned about in my first years of seminary, when I made a goal to visit as many parishes of our Archdiocese as possible. One Sunday I chose to visit the Church of St. Victoria in Victoria (in the western suburbs). GPS was not widely used at the time, so I printed out my driving directions from Mapquest. When I arrived at the church, however, I wasn’t in Victoria, but in Shoreview at the Church of St. Odilia. Turns out, Mapquest got confused between “St. Victoria” and “Victoria St.”, where St. Odilia is located. Fortunately, they had a Mass about the same time. Turns out that it was the feast day of St. Odilia! She kept popping up in odd ways after that. In seminary, the furnishings in the seminarians’ rooms were paid for by donations, and small plaques acknowledged the donors – one day something drew my attention to the plaque outside my door: “Donated by parishioners of St. Odilia”! She was making it known to me that she was looking out for me.
Sometimes saints invite us into relationship through such seeming coincidences. When they happen time and time again, you start to realize that they’re reaching out to us to get our attention. I first began learning about the life of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati toward the end of my first year of priesthood, when I first moved to LeCenter as pastor in 2006. That summer I read one of his biographies. When I finished the book, I was intrigued and began doing some more research on the Internet. To my surprise, I found out that I had finished the book on July 4, which is Blessed Pier Giorgio’s feast day! That moved me to learn more over the years, until a few years ago I discovered a special novena to Blessed Pier Giorgio, which is usually prayed in the nine days prior to his birthday (April 6) or his feast day (July 4). It just so happens that I discovered this novena on the day prior to the start of his birthday novena, just in time to pray it from Day One! This past spring, I happened to be going through my bookshelf, and sure enough, once again I found the novena just a couple days prior to the start of the novena. It’s like Pier Giorgio is ensuring that I don’t forget him. Since then, I have deepened in my spiritual friendship with this amazing and holy young man, and he has become one of my most fervent saint devotions.
Perhaps you have a similar experience. If not, I encourage you to keep your eyes open, as I’m sure one of the saints is trying to make themselves known in order to invite you into deeper relationship with them. But in doing so, realize the point of a relationship with the saints is to ultimately draw us closer to God, the One who will unite us forever in the life of Heaven. May God be praised in His saints!
God bless, Fr. Chris Shofner [email protected]
