My First Day of School

About Me

My name is Ebony Marshall-Newsome. I am the proud mother of 1 wonderful son named Braylon. Braylon is 9 years old. I was born and raised in Flowood MS. I graduated from Puckett Attendance Center located in Puckett MS. I attended Jackson State University where I received a degree in Elementary Education. I am currently attending Belhaven University as one of their Masters of Arts in Teaching student. I enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and going to the movies. This is my second year and I am looking forward to working with you all!

My Philosophy of Education My personal goal for my classroom is to challenge students and watch

them grow to their full potential. I want to take students at different levels and see them develop together for the betterment of each individual.

Attendance

Your child’s daily, on-time attendance is critical to their success in school. While some challenges to your child’s school attendance are unavoidable, it’s important to understand the impact of each absence. Please try to see that your child is present at school everyday.

Classroom Contract

Always do your best. Come to class on time, ready to work, and prepared. Follow directions the first given. Keep hands, feet, and belongings to yourself. Remain seated at all times. Treat others how you want to be treated. Follow all school rules at all times.

Consequences………

In this class we will follow rules at all times. If you fail to do so, the following steps will occur.

*Verbal warning *Clip changed *Name on board *Student conference/check mark beside name *Detention/parent contact *Referral to administration ****Severe interruption: sent to the office immediately.

Rewards*Certificates*Verbal Praise*No Homework Pass*Positive Phone Calls Home or Positive Notes*Computer Time (20) mins.

ClassroomProcedures*Enter the room with a GOODMORNING.*Unpack and hang backpacks up.*Get pencils sharpen.*Have a seat.*Begin bell work assignment.

Restroom Breaks

* We will go as a group in the mornings at 8:20 A.M. and after lunch at 11:40 A.M.

*Please raise your hand and let me know when there is an emergency need for you to go.

*Only one student may use the restroom at a time.

How will you be graded?

Assignments

Classwork Classwork will be given

everyday. Classwork is expected to be completed before the bell rings. Incomplete work must be put inside of incomplete basket. Incomplete work will be able to be completed on Fridays if it’s any extra time.

Homework Homework will be given Mon-

Thurs. A homework sheet (EagleClaw) will be sent home every night with your behavior for the day and your homework for that day. Your parent must sign the box showing that you showed them your EagleClaw.
