My Field Education: Web Portal

My Field Education is a custom, web-based system, coded in Microsoft ASP and database-driven. The system allows students to submit field applications, resumes, and agency requests online.
My Field Education has successfully leveraged online technologies to streamline and automate a number of previously paper-intensive and time-consuming processes for UB SSW staff and students.
My Field EducationThe Field Education Department, in collaboration with the School’s Technology staff, launched a new web portal for students called My Field Education.
My Field EducationStudents log on with their UB ID to find field-related forms and helpful resources.
Dashboard
Inside the web portal, a dashboard- like screen is unique to every student; students can clearly see what steps in the placement process have been completed and what is outstanding.

Field placements in MSW programs can often be the most anxiety-provoking part of the educational experience.
Field is where students are socialized to the profession, and where they are expected to integrate classroom learning with real-life experiences.
My Field Education is part of a larger effort by the department to better support students.
