My Favorite Teacher

Students can sing the praises of their favorite teacher with Barnes

& Noble’s My Favorite Teacher contest. Any student may write an

essay, poem or thank-you letter sharing how a teacher has

Millionaire Club

Congratulations to our double millionaires, Sarah and Sophia Prusa

in Mrs. Vassar’s 4th

grade.

The newest additions to our Millionaire club are 8th

graders Maria

Hollowell and Hannah Brennan. Well done girls!

Mission Boxes

Mission boxes are going home today. These are part of our Lenten

observance of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. The alms will go

going to the Holy Childhood Association. Please collect your

money during Lent and return it in the box or an envelope marked,

Mission Money. Please send the money to the office. Please

return the money during Holy Week. The money collected will

help those who need adequate housing, food, education and

health care. Please remember to pray for the missions

daily. Thank you!

Nativity Athletics

We will be holding our first soccer practice Saturday March 3rd

in

the gym. The 56th

team will be practicing from 1-3 with the Cadets

from 3-5. Players should bring tennis shoes, shin guards and a

water bottle. Practice outside should start the week following,

weather permitting. If you have any questions please feel free to

call Bob Spotts at 903-2679.

CALLING ALL RUNNERS AND JUMPERS! It is not too late to sign up

for the Nativity Track team. All 4-8 graders are encouraged to

attend the first February 28 and March 1. We will meet at

the Franklin Central track at 5:30 pm. We need at least 25

participants to field our team. Practice times are flexible and will

not conflict with other sport practices. If you are interested and

are unable to attend one these dates, please contact Mike

Nativity Catholic School at CYO Music Contest Nativity Catholic School had a tremendous day at the annual CYO Music

Contest held at Bishop Chatard High School on Saturday, February 11th

. For

only the third time, every performance garnered a first place award!

We were very well represented across the board. Congratulations to all of

our participants!

We had two first place fourth grade piano solos – Sam Meer and Sarah

Wiley.

Keely Henson and Jenna Shearer, 5th

graders, earned a first for their flute

and oboe duet.

We had nineteen vocal solos all earning first place honors.

Fourth graders Mickayla Haemmerle, Erin Rooney, Maddie Hofmeister, and

Lizzie Schneider did a super job for their first contest.

Fifth grade students really performed well. They included Samantha

Payson, Keely Henson, Sarah Wiley, Jenna Shearer, Katie Minton, Hannah

Cenkner, and Alex Stallings.

The seventh grade was represented by soloists Allie Stiffler, Julia Kurz, and

Mary Schneider.

Eighth grade solos included Josh Sitzman, Irish Wilson, Maria Hollowell, Ted

Jorgenson, and Anna Chrzanowski.

There were three fifth grade duets including Katie Minton and Sam Payson;

Kaleigh Farrell and Jenna Rikke; and Hannah Cenkner and Celia Whisler. The

6th

grade duet included Melissa Kurz and Kristen Sitzman. The seventh

grade duet was Hannah Minton and Colene Speckman. Our final duet

included seventh grader Allie Stiffler and 8th

grader Ted Jorgenson.

We had one seventh grade quartet which included Julia Kurz, Tiger

Pluckebaum, Maddie Scheil, and Allie Stiffler who earned a first.

And our Middle School Choir performed very well in the Large Ensemble

category. They sang Katy Perry’s “Firework.”

We had one performance selected as “Best of Class.” 5th

grader Katie

Minton’s solo, “Scales and Arpeggios” won best in class and she represented

Nativity at the CYO Honors Recital on Sunday, February 19th

at the Cathedral

High School Performing Arts Center.

Congratulations to all of our music students! Your hard work really paid off!
