indie musicThe music genre that I have chosen to do is indie rock, having a sub genre of indie pop. The best known magazine for this music genre would most probably be NME. Indie rock is a genre of alternative rock that originated in the United kingdom and the United states in the 1980’s.

The best known artists of these genres may be people such as Jake Bugg, The XX or Bastille. Although there is a slight difference in the music held in indie rock / pop, the target audience remains very much the same.

The target audience is quite young and usually of teen age. It is quite varied between an audience of both girls and boys yet it is thought to be more associated with boys. This is the most likely reason that a lot of the magazine covers of this genre are quite dark.

The music of this genre is thought to be quite ‘underground’, and unknown to many popular audiences due to the use of independent record labels

as the target audience is thought to be primarily male the colours used on the magazine covers are often quite dark

the title is big and bold therefore easily read

the facial expressions of theartist are often very seriousand there is little expression

they wear dark coloured clothing
