The smell of bacon frying in its own juices permeated the air, filling the bedroom with the aromaof breakfast meats and cooking batter. As the smells mingled with his nasal passages he slowly became

more and more awake, the fanciful smell of morning ambrosia leading him by the nose to an uprightposition on his bed. His heavy eyelid slowly became less and less burdened as his eyes adjusted to themorning sun s light flooding through the bedroom window. He pulled the covers off himself and

followed the heavy scent of his awaiting morning feast.

He stepped across the wooden floor, the cold running up his nude feet and sending shiversdown his spine. He quickly walked over to his slippers and opened the door as they slid onto his feet.

Hi, honey! How was your extra hour of sleep? Did my cooking wake you? the apron-cladwoman said as a blushing smile appeared onto her face, You probably could ve slept for another two

    hours.

    Elizabeth!

The name popped into his head, the epiphany nearly knocking him to the floor.

    It really is you, Elizabeth

His head was swimming through a cloud of pea soup, the fog enveloping everything but him andhis wife. He swiveled his head, looking for clues as to what his own name is.

Are you okay Johnny? You seem lost, she asked with a quizzical look on her face.

    Johnny Johnny and Elizabeth Elizabeth

Oh, it s nothing sweetie. My mind s still a bit groggy from that extra hour of sleep.

With those words the pea soup seemingly was scooped out of the world, returning the wife andhusband to their warm home. With this Johnny sat down at the small, wooden kitchen table. Elizabeth

used a ladle to measure out a third pancake, took the plate with bacon and the other two pancakes andhanded it to Johnny along with a glass of orange juice. Johnny picked up the fork and knife, using them

to begin on the succulent meal his angel of a wife had prepared.

A couple minutes passed and Elizabeth finished creating her own meal: A single pancake toppedwith a bit of butter and a dollop of maple syrup with a side of fruit salad.

So you ve got no work today? Elizabeth inquired with a devilish smile, I doubt you would justspontaneously decide to miss an extra hour of work to sleep.

You re an observant one, Johnny replied with a smile, I planned on taking a walk with you

around the lake and dinner in the evening. This wasn t just a lapse of spontaneity, today I m going totreat you with decadence fit for the queen of England. This is going to be the only meal you ll cook allday.

Elizabeth looked up at him, her deep blue eyes connecting with his green-tinged eyes. Hergentle smile seemingly caressing his heart with the familiar feelings of love and lust. They finished their

meals and she stood up, her arm out stretched to Johnny. He took her and reeled her in to an embrace, gently nuzzling her nose and settling a kiss on her lips. They slowly moved this out of the kitchen andinto the bedroom, Johnny pulling the door closed behind themselves.
