DESCRIPTION

http://manrayphotographs.com/?page_id=44A short document, with images, showing my copy of Man Ray Photographs 1920-1934 Paris. I have my book up for sale and include more information at the website I created (see above) . Man Ray was one of the 25 greatest artists of the 20th century. There were only 3000 copies of this book published, many being destroyed in the mayhem of WWII. All images in this document are from my copy of the book and show the condition. This document has numerous images showing cover condition, binding etc. For more images of interior pages, please go to the website.

Man Ray Photographs

In their book, “The Photobook: A History”, Martin Parr and Gerry Badger make the claim that photographs contained in “Man Ray Photographs 1920-1934 Paris” are “regarded by some as amongst the greatest of the twentieth century.”

The book includes 104 images. Eighty-four of them are black and white photographs, most of them full page. They run the gamut of Rays work from portraits, to common objects in unusual settings and include 19 of his “rayographs.”

My copy does have some flaws. Virtually all damage is confined to the cover and spine.

We will look more closely at these flaws in subsequent slides

This book is available for sale.

One of the rarest twentieth century photography books, only around 3000 were printed.

Many copies did not survive the devastation in Europe during WWII.
