MYRTLEFORD COMMUNITY COMMENTS (combined)

• like the idea of separating the toilets and shelters in Jubilee Park... toilet area needs a big makeover

• important to connect the streets with safe movement

• like the idea of making streets more user friendly especially the park

• this means the widening of pavement outside the shops which will allow more activity... I hope that it may encourage business owners to take some responsibility and beautify buildings.

• impressed with the concept and the careful consideration that was given to the priorities identified in the analysis phase

RESPONSE

• rejuvenation of the toilets and the surrounding area has been addressed in the design response to better integrate these facilities into the landscape and provide a more attractive view from the street. A new shelter has also been proposed.

• 5 designated crossing points have been created to allow for safe pedestrian movement across Myrtle Street.

• provision of additional seating, lounge benches, picnic tables, bbq, drinking fountain etc. will enhance the usability of the Jubilee parklands.

• the high quality streetscape upgrade will enhance the aesthetic of the streetscapes with new avenue trees, paving, bike racks, seating, etc. and will invite people (locals and tourists) to use these spaces.

• the community consultation during the analysis phase provide vital input into the designs presented for Myrtleford.

During the ‘Day of Design’, the community were invited to indicate on feedback forms whether they ‘liked the design concepts’ or were ‘not sure about the design concepts’ with the results as follows:100% liked the overall design concepts
