The Performance Standard WESCAM’s MX-POD transmits reliable high quality digital video and audio signals in real time to fixed or portable ground receive sites. The MX-POD is an externally mounted antenna pod, which houses two antennas. 1) The High Gain antenna is an auto-steering antenna that sends a narrow focused microwave signal for a long signal range. 2) The second antenna is an Omni- Directional antenna that provides circular beam dispersion from the MX-POD for close-proximity tactical situations. It also allows multiple distributed receivers in a wide area (e.g. HandHeld Receivers) to simultaneously receive the microwave downlink signal. Together, the High Gain and Omni-Directional antennas provide both maximum range and tactical performance. Digital Transmission The MX-POD transmits the microwave signal produced by a COFDM digital transmitter unit within the aircraft. The COFDM transmitter provides digital high quality video, audio and data, fully encrypted signal transmissions under difficult conditions. Image reception is also possible under non-line-of-sight conditions (for short range transmission). Automatic Antenna Steering The communications, antenna steering and control are integrated into WESCAM’s MX turrets. Control of the steerable antenna is based upon high accuracy aircraft position and heading information from the MX-GEO's GPS and inertial navigation units. No additional external gyro's, compass or compass calibrations are required. For long range transmission to steerable antenna fixed ground receive sites, aircraft position is downlinked, which enables automatic receive site tracking of the aircraft. MX Family The MX turret integration controls the MX-POD. The integration of camera and antenna control, overlay generation, video distribution and switching in a single unit significantly reduces overall system complexity and weight. All system status and control information are placed on video overlays on the operators video monitor resulting in a standard operating interface which is both simple to use and highly flexible. www.wescam.com THE MX-POD DIGITAL TRANSMISSION SYSTEM OFFERS: MX-POD ROCK SOLID FLIGHT PROVEN Ideal for: Medium-Altitude Covert Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance, SAR missions Airborne Installations: Fixed-Wing, Rotary-Wing WESCAM’s MX-POD MX-15 installed on Bell 407 MX-POD installed Diversity Rx BMS-Hand Controller

The Performance StandardWESCAM’s MX-POD transmits reliable highquality digital video and audio signals in realtime to fixed or portable ground receive sites. The MX-POD is an externally mounted antennapod, which houses two antennas. HandHeld Receivers) to simultaneously receive the microwave downlink signal.Together, the High Gain and Omni-Directionalantennas provide both maximum range andtactical performance.

Digital TransmissionThe MX-POD transmits the microwave signalproduced by a COFDM digital transmitter unitwithin the aircraft. The COFDM transmitterprovides digital high quality video, audio anddata, fully encrypted signal transmissionsunder difficult conditions. Image reception isalso possible under non-line-of-sight conditions (for short range transmission).

Automatic Antenna SteeringThe communications, antenna steering andcontrol are integrated into WESCAM’s MX turrets. Control of the steerable antenna isbased upon high accuracy aircraft position andheading information from the MX-GEO's GPSand inertial navigation units. No additional external gyro's, compass or compass calibrations are required. For long range transmission to steerable antenna fixedground receive sites, aircraft position is downlinked, which enables automatic receivesite tracking of the aircraft.

The integration of camera and antenna control, overlay generation, video distribution and switching in a single unit significantly reduces overall system complexity and weight. All system status andcontrol information are placed on video overlays on the operators video monitor resulting in a standard operating interfacewhich is both simple to use and highly flexible.
