Registration for Fall session can be done 2 ways:

Start dates and tuition

Fall session begins Monday, September 12, 2016. Classes are not held on holidays or during school vacations. Classes must be paid in full at the time of registration. Tuition fees listed do not include the $25.00 registration fee. Payment plans are available upon request.

Inclement weather

In the event that day classes at MVTHS have been cancelled, Adult Education classes are also cancelled. Cancellations are broadcast on WEEI, WRKO, WBZ, WHDH, WMJX-FM,WBCN-FM, WEZE, Channel 4, Channel 5, Channel 7. Hours toward licensure will be rescheduled.

Parking

There is ample parking in the MVTHS lot located along the front of the vocational school building. Please do not park in front of garage doors or in fire lanes.

Smoking policy

MVTHS is a smoke-free campus. The use of all tobacco products is prohibited on school propertyaccording to Massachusetts General Law (ch 270 sec 22; ch 71 sec 2A, 37H).

Course Text: Emergency Medical Responder, Fifth Edition, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Jones and Bartlett, 2011. (an optional workbook is available.)Through lectures, discussions and hands-on practical experiences this course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to function as an Emergency Medical Responder in emergency situations. The course will prepare the student to serve as an essential link in the emergency medical services (EMS) system. The course content covers knowledge and psychomotor skills required to make appropriate decisions and provide immediate care in response to medical emergencies. The course includes Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for the Professional Rescuer with Automated External Defibrillation (AED) and advanced First Aid skills. Students that successfully complete practical and knowledge based exams are eligible for the appropriate Emergency Medical Responder (First Responder) certification card which is valid for two years.

“Understanding your Modern Automobile”: This is an entry level course open to all levels and geared towards those who want to “do it yourself” and save on expensive labor costs or just gain more overall car knowledge. We will discuss and review basic automotive repairs including: Oil Change & Maintenance, Battery, Starting, and Charging systems, Brakes, Suspension, and Electrical systems. Check Engine Light and Noise Diagnosis will also be discussed. Students may work on their personal vehicles during the hands on portion of the classes. Work boots and safety glasses are required for this class.

Providing safe alcohol service to guests is an essential component to the hospitality industry. When staff are trained to handle difficult situations, quality service occurs.
