and Sadaqah are.• By annotating adverts, and
designing our own.
Task

Complete the worksheet and
answer the questions into your
book.
CAN YOU REMEMBER WHICH OF THE FIVE PILLARS IS TO DO WITH MONEY?
What is Zakah?Zakah = to purify
All Muslims who are wealthy enough must perform this act of charity in order for their wealth to be purified in the eyes of Allah.
Most Muslims believe that Allah blesses them with wealth and therefore it is their duty to give some back to those most needy. This
helps to purify their money and prevents greed.
As Zakah is one of the Five Pillars of Islam it is an obligation which all Muslims must act upon.
To do:1. Complete the match up task. You need to
match the question to the answer.
2. Use the information you have matched up to write a definition of Zakah using no more
then 20 words. Extension: Why is giving to charity appeals
not Zakah?
WHAT IS IT CALLED WHEN MONEY, WORDS OR ACTIONS ARE DONE
OUTSIDE OF ZAKAH?
Task
In your groups, annotate the adverts from Muslim charities.
• Where are they biased?• Where are they persuasive?
• Is this advert effective in encouraging people to donate?
