Music videos are powerful creative narratives that serve many purposes. They aremarketing tools for bands, promotional reels for lmmakers, storytelling experiments, oreven poetic challenges. ome lm critics argue that they are the most plastic, visceral, andaccessible lm format utterly focused on a dialogue of sound, lyrics, and visuals. !nd yet, music videos have all but disappeared from television, even as the number of music videosbeing produced has burgeoned.

Music videos are all about desire and aesthetics. !s a visual medium, it is extremely

important for lmmakers to build their ability to tell a story "ust through the visuals andmise#en#sc$ne. This exercise is a really great way to experiment with visual ideas that wouldnormally "ust end up being sent into the experimental bin. %ne big plus& theres no need toworry about paying out for a sound man.
