Thank you for choosing the Winston-Salem Symphony. Please feel free to reach out with any questions or comments. Winston-Salem Symphony Musicians in the Classroom and in the Community Policies and Procedures About the Program: Musicians of the Winston-Salem Symphony, both individual and in ensembles of all sizes, bring their training and performance experience directly to students and audiences throughout the Triad. Programs are specifically designed to enhance your school music program or to engage your local community. These programs give students and audiences an opportunity to meet the musicians of the WSS, experience a live performance, see the instruments up close, and enhance understanding of music, performance practice and much more. Program prices vary according to the scope of your group’s needs, duration, and location. To arrange a visit for your school or organization, contact Jessica Munch-Dittmar, Education and Community Engagement Director at [email protected] or at 336-725-1035 ex. 221. Classroom and Behavioral Management Expectations: Please speak to your class about what it means to be a good listener and audience member prior to the arrival of any Winston- Salem Symphony visitor. Please set the example for your students and manage behavioral problems throughout the performance or presentation. Your help in this area is greatly appreciated. Booking a Musician/Ensemble Visit: All musician visits of any kind should be booked through the Winston-Salem Symphony Education and Community Engagement Director, Jessica Munch-Dittmar. Visits should not be booked through any other staff person or musician. When a musician(s) does visit your school, please do not book another visit directly through the musician, but rather contact Jessica for additional visits. Payment: Prices and payment are assessed on a case by case basis. We understand the school budgets and program budgets are often tight and we do our best to work with the budgetary constraints of the school. The school/organization will receive an invoice from the Winston-Salem Symphony at the end of their scheduled visit or cycle of visits. Assist with Our Funding Efforts: You can help us with grant writing by sending us your completed survey forms, a copy of your school newsletter that mentions the WSS, student “thank you” notes, or a few great examples of your students work surrounding our visit. Your assistance in this area is fundamental to our continued efforts to provide affordable education opportunities to the community. Cancellation: The Winston-Salem Symphony must be notified of any cancellation at least 45 days before the planned visit. If a cancellation occurs after this provided deadline, the school will be billed for the musician visit, even if the scheduled visit was to be partially or fully funded by the Symphony. The only exceptions to this policy are: 1. An “Act of God” prevents the intended visit from taking place, i.e. snow, other severe weather, etc. 2. A rescheduled date is identified that is agreeable both with the school and the visiting musician(s). By signing this agreement, you are confirming that you understand, will adhere to and agree with the policies and procedures listed above. The person signing this agreement on behalf of the school/organization further acknowledges that they are authorized to commit to its terms and conditions. ____________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ School/Organization Name of School/Organization Representative (Print) ____________________________________________________ ________________________________________________ Signature of School/Organization Representative Date
