Attention Competitors:Each competitor is responsible for supplying management withcorrect association numbers (AHA, USEF & USDF) for horse,owner, rider and trainer before the day(s) of competition. Thescores of competitors who fail to supply correct numbers maynot be counted toward national awards.

A copy of AHA membership card and both sides of the horse’s registration papers mustaccompany the entry form. Every horse is required to have a current Coggins (datedwithin 1 year of the show) and out of state horses must have a current Health Certificatedated within 30 days of the show. Beginning December 1, 2015, all horses entering thegrounds of a Federation licensed competition must be accompanied by documentationof Equine Influenza Virus and Equine Herpes Virus (Rhinopneumonitis) vaccinationswithin six months prior to entering the stables. See USEF GR845.

Music City Arabian Horse Show is a qualifying show for the2021 Region 12 Championships, 2021 Youth Nationals, 2021 CanadianNationals, 2021 Sport Horse Nationals and 2021 U.S. Nationals.

TBA Classes

Any class not offered in this show and listed on the AHA standard class list excludingDressage, Trail, Working Hunter, Cutting, Working Cow, Reined Cow, Team Penning,Jumper, Carriage Obstacle, Carriage Combination Hunter, Ranch Sorting, WesternDressage and Herd Work/Ranch Cutting is eligible to be purchased as a TBA for $45.Non-sponsoring exhibitors will pay the entry fee according to their pre or post entrystatus to the show. Please consult with the show secretary for available slots. SportHorse TBAs (including championships) must be held on Sunday. No Sweepstakespoints may be earned from classes purchased from the TBA list. TBA slots may berequested up until the start of the session the TBA is offered in.

USEFMembership Statement

Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classesat Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above andCombined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and VaultingCompetitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider,driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, EventingCompetitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined DrivingCompetitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the followingclasses are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) lead line; 2) exhibitions; 3)games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and opportunity classes(opportunity classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6)USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA EndorsedReining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who haveproof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own NationalFederation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in DressageSport Horse Breeding classes.

Show RulesEVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OFTHE CURRENT FEDERATION RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED AND JUDGED IN ACCORDANCETHEREWITH.

This horse show is conducted in accordance with the rules of the USEF, particularly the Arabian, Half-Arabian and Anglo-Arabian Horse and the Arabian Horse Association. The official rule book of eachorganization will prevail for this show. Each participant is responsible for knowledge of these rules and issubject to these rules. Any changes or corrections of the rules will automatically become part of this prizelist. Questions that may arise that are not covered by either AHA or USEF rulebooks will be decided uponby the Show Committee and their decisions will be final.

Arrival Information: Stabling will be available no earlier than 12 noon on Friday September 25, 2020.Departure may be no later than 9:00 am on Monday, September 28th unless prior arrangements aremade.

Stabling: All stall assignments will be made at the discretion of the show committee. Those wishing tostable together must send their entries in together. No stalls will be reserved or held unless the request isreceived and accompanied by payment for the stalls. All stalls are 10’x10’, wood with metal bars.Shavings can be purchased at $7.00 per bag. Straw bedding is not allowed. ANYONE USING ANUNASSIGNED STALL WILL BE CHARGED $100. For those arriving before noon on Friday, contact barnmanager or show manager 615-495-7346

Withdrawing Entries: After the close of entries, horses may be scratched from the show at the owner’soption; however, under no circumstances will any fees be refunded to the exhibitor with the exception ofclass entries as noted in Refund Policy below. Neither show management shall have any liability to anyexhibitor, owner, handler or other persons, firm or corporation by reason of any change or cancellation ofthe show, except for the return of fees as foresaid. Please be prepared as no entry fees or other fees will berefunded due to schedule changes. Schedule conflicts between rings are the responsibility of theexhibitor. Management reserves the right to change the arena location of classes with prior notification toexhibitors.

Refund Policy: If a refund is requested after the close of entries, it must be accompanied by an officialveterinarian’s excuse. Only class entries will be refunded.

Prize Money: Prize money will be mailed within 30 days after the close of the show.

Scratched Classes: A $10 fee will be assessed (per class) to those exhibitors who do not show up fortheir scheduled class or who have not officially scratched their entry at the show office prior to the session.This will be strictly enforced.

Gate Call: The two minute limit for gates will be strictly enforced. The gate will close two minutes afterthe first horse enters the ring or after the entrance of the final horse in a continuous string of horses.

Electronic Communication: Electronic communication devices in the show ring are strictlyprohibited.

Judges: At the failure of a judge to attend the show or perform their duties, the show committee reservesthe right to substitute a judge for the one who is officially designated in the prize list. No contact shall bemade with judges during the period of the show unless accompanied by a show committee member.

Security: Exhibitors are advised that it is their responsibility to secure their valuables. The Music CityArabian Horse Show, its members, agents, employees and volunteers accept no responsibility for lossessustained or caused by an exhibitor or spectator.

First Aid: First Aid treatment will be available.

Photographs: Anyone attending the Music City show grants the show management permission topublish photos taken at the show by photographers and/or staff. No written release is required to publishthese photos in their promotional material.

Dogs: Dogs are not permitted to be loose on competition grounds and must be on a leash or otherwisecontained. Individuals must not lead dogs on a leash while mounted. Dog owners failing to comply with

this rule may be subject to penalty, as well as issuance of warning cards.

Motorized Vehicle Statement: Minors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them tooperate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorizedvehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicleson the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license mayoperate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a validdriver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent orguardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for anydamages, claims, losses or actions resulting from that operation. Violations of this rule will be cause forsanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the childcommitting the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s) and/ortrainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filedagainst any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobilityassistance devises for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

Discipline: Any act of discourtesy or disobedience to the officials on the part of the owner, groom, rider,driver or member of the family of the person participating in the show will disqualify the horse fromadjudication. The management reserves to itself the right to remove a groom, horse, rider or driver fromthe show without being liable for compensation or damage. Excessive use of the whip on any horse in astall, runway, schooling area, show ring or elsewhere on the competition grounds before or during a show,by any person, constitutes a violation and renders the offender to penalty. Any action(s) against a horseby an exhibitor, which are deemed excessive by a judge, steward, Veterinarian or the Show Committeeanywhere on the grounds may be punished by elimination from the show.

Headgear: Protective Headgear must be used according to USEF rules.

Veterinary: A Veterinarian will be on call. See Show Officials list. Sharps containers will be available inthe stall areas. Competition management may fine any individuals including trainers, owners, exhibitors,or their agents up to $100 for improper disposal of needles or other sharp disposable instruments. Showmanagement reserves the right to request measurement of hooves on any or all horses in any and allclasses. Show management will be enforcing all USEF and AHA rules. Protests must be made in writingto the show committee for violation of USEF rules. Please refer to USEF/EC rules for further information.

Open Breed Class Guidelines:

The purpose of this division is to introduce potential new owners to the joys of showingand riding Arabian horses/horses by giving riders of any breed an opportunity to gainexperience by offering open classes at our Arabian Class A horse shows.

Riders:Riders are encouraged to be in a professionally operated lesson program and to be amember of AHA,with neither being required. Riding suits and chaps are notallowed. Riding pants, jodhpurs, breeches or colored jeans are considered appropriate.A neatly fitted shirt or top is suggested. A riding helmet is also mandatory for riders 17and under and all other riders per USEF guidelines. Appropriate footwear with a smallheel is mandatory.

Horses:Horses are encouraged to be lesson horses of any breed and should display thecharacteristics of such, but it is notmandatory that they are utilized by in a professionallesson—all horses are welcome, as long as they display good manners and a quietdisposition. A cut-back saddle for saddle seat, western saddle for stock seat, and huntsaddle for hunt seat are to be used. Work bridles and bits, including snaffles, areallowed, and running martingales are permitted and encouraged. However, tie downmartingales are not allowed. Any horse or rider that is deemed unsafe or is not abidingby these rules may be eliminated by the horse show management.

Entries are to follow horse show rules but are not AHA or USEF sanctioned classes.Show grooming is permitted, but not necessary.

Judging:Equitation classes are to be judged on the ability of the rider to control and show theirhorse to its best advantage, and upon the riding skills of the rider. Each class should bejudged on the rider’s basic equitation and horsemanship skills suited to the classdiscipline, with emphasis placed on the rider’s ability to control the horse at all times,identify correct diagonals and leads promptly, and to control their horses’ rate in aconsistent manner. Riders should convey the impression of good posture, balance, andeffective control while commanding proper speed of gaits and show ring placement.Headers are allowed in the line up in all walk-trot classes. HORSES ARE NOT TO BEJUDGED IN EQUITATION CLASSES, only the rider’s ability to control themselves andtheir horses and present themselves to their best advantage.

Riders may not cross enter between the Lead line, Walk/Trot, or Walk/Trot/Canterclasses.

Division & Class Specifications

Age of Horses:Horses are considered to be 1 year old on January 1st following the actual dateof foaling.

Amateurs: Every rider having reached his/her 19h birthday by December 1st must possess acurrent USEF Amateur Certification or be eligible for and have made application for one to thecompetition secretary at least one hour prior to riding in an amateur to ride class. Amateurcards are no longer available for non-members. Refer to USEF rules GR1306 & 1307.

Amateur Owners: Combined ownership is not permitted in Amateur Owned classes unlessthe owners are members of the same family. Leased horses are not eligible.

Juniors: Individuals who have not reached their 19th birthday as of December 1st of thecurrent competition year is considered a Junior Exhibitor. The age on December 1st will bemaintained the entire competition year. Persons born on December 1st assume the greater ageon that date. If a competition is in progress on any November 30th, junior status at the start ofthe competition will be maintained throughout that competition. Juniors may show in Ladies toRide and Gentlemen to Ride unless prohibited by the prize list. All Junior Exhibitors areconsidered amateurs for competition purposes. DR 119.3 does not apply. All Juniorsriding in Hunter and Hunter Seat Equitation sections must wear protective headgear passingtesting standards while riding in the designated schooling and exercise areas or the show ring.

Equitation: Unless otherwise stated, Equitation classes are open to Arabian stallions, maresand geldings and Half-Arabian/Anglo-Arabian mares and geldings.

Halter/In Hand and Sport Horse In-Hand Championship Classes: Senior Championand Reserve Champion horses shall be at least 2 years old, except geldings, and shall be selectedas outlined in GR335.5.

Lead Line: Lead line is an exhibition class open to riders who are at least 2 years old and havenot reached their 7th birthday. Lead line riders may not cross enter into any other class at theshow. Riders, Trainers and owners in the lead line class are exempt from USEF membership,unless they or their horse cross enters into other classes. No stallions are allowed.

Liberty: Open to Arabians and Half Arabians 2 years old or older. Horses shall be shown atliberty, in the arena, in order of go (to be announced), free of any and all tack, for a period of 2minutes. During the two minutes in the arena, any posing or presentation of the horse otherthan at liberty shall cause the entry to be disqualified. Horses may be accompanied by no morethan two handlers attired in accordance with USEF Arabian Halter Division rules. Whips nolonger than 6’. Exhibitors will have 90 seconds to catch the horse. If not caught in 90 secondshorse will be disqualified.

Walk/Trot 10 yrs & Under Classes:Walk/Trot 10 & under classes are open to riders 10years old and under. Walk/Trot riders must never have been judged in a class at a recognized ornon-recognized competition that requires a canter/lope. Walk/Trot riders may enter onlyshowmanship or halter classes at the show.
