Band & Track Name: Mosaik: Aerial

Running Time: 1:56 General style of music video:

Applying Joan Lynch’s theory I would say that the music style of the music video I want to create is a concept video, with a slight narrative aspect through use of acting, however I would say it is overall a concept. The music really suits this style because it is of the chill-out genre which allows for a more abstract type of music video to be made.

It will be an anti-performance music video from reference Jon Gow’s theory as it will not involve any actual performing of the song.

From Andrew Goodwin’s theory regarding music video conventions, I will create a relationship between the music and the visuals which I am using, I will also apply a certain music video style which matches the music. Some of the other main conventions that Goodwin talk of will not be applied within my music video mainly due to it being conceptual as Goodwin’s conventions of music videos seem to fit mostly with mainstream performance and narrative videos.

Railton and Watson name the concept music video as “art music video”, From their theory I want to make my video work as a “creative expression” which will run alongside as an “aesthetic complement to the song”.

Briefly describe what will happen in your music video, highlighting camera angles and effects used. What will we see?

Sped-up traffic using long shot framing Long shot of Sped-up people walking around the streets Extreme close-up of plants Low-angle long shots of building architecture Narrow depth of field extreme close-up of bugs, plants, architectural nooks and crannies Blurred (out of focus) lighting and coloured lighting Narrow depth of field close-up of rain on surfaces Slow-motion of some shots such as of rain or people Also through editing I would like to try use double exposure, reverse footage, film burn and

hue overlays The music video will explore the idea of decay and life

What resources will you need?Props, styling, location, recording and lighting equipment, actors, etc.:

I will use my DLSR and camera stabilizer

I can borrow one of the college’s tripods for shots which require more stability or smooth movement

I could potentially use studio lighting to create interesting lighting and shadows maybe with coloured overlays

My locations will vary around the centre of Norwich and potentially surrounding areas as there is a high street style which I like about it as well as interesting lighting and architecture I could film

I will need to cast for an actor within my music video

Who will you need to organise for your music video shoot?

I will need to cast people for filming, I have friends who do drama so I could potentially cast them. Also I may need help with equipment from friends

When do you plan to shoot your music video?

Around October time and onwards if required
