Analysis

Sound Editing

The sound within the music video of “When You’re Gone” is mostly just the song that is being sung within the video. This is conventional as with in all music videos, regardless of their genre have the track being played by the artist.

There is also some talking parts within the video which appear in the song on the album and single it self. This is not very conventional as it is quite rare as music videos tend to just have the music but on the odd occasion it has a piece of dialogue within it.

The editing within the music video of “When You’re Gone” consists of cutting between each singer when its their part of the song where they are singing sometimes shot reverse shot is used. This is conventional as the camera tends to show the artist singing or playing an instrument within a music video to show to the audience which person is playing the music or singing.

The use of split screen within the music video shows the audience what each singer is doing with in the video at the same time. This is manly conventional within songs that are a duet or a calibration between two artists as the video may have been filmed at different times once with one of the artist and another time with the outer artist.
