7 people who answered my questionnaire were girls, and only 3 were boys. This suggests that even though my magazine should appeal to both sexes, maybe I should be more inclined to aim it to the female gender. In addition, considering I am a girl it will be easier to produce something more feminine in quality.

6 people who answered my questionnaire are overall teenagers - in the 16-20 age range. Generally, the demographic for my magazine should be that age anyway because it is the people who are most likely to be interested in music. With that in mind, I will need to make my magazine current and with articles/interviews that will appeal to adolescents.

When I asked people what music they prefer to listen to and/or read about there was quite a divide. However, judging by the data it is clear that people prefer mainstream/pop and rock/indie therefore I will make the genre of my magazine to mainly suit those with that taste. However, I will try and reach for a wider audience by varying the genres of the interview to the main cover etc.

Out of the artists I asked people to chose between from who they’d most like to listen/hear about, most went with Rihanna as seen in the graph. She’s very contemporary and reaches out to both females and males therefore the pretend ‘artist’ that I create/photograph should have a similar sort of authenticity and appeal. Even though most went with Rihanna, there was a significant divide between the other artists whom dramatically vary in genre, therefore I have to incorporate attributes to my magazine that pleases people with different music tastes in order to have a greater demographic.

Most people who answered my music questionnaire, actually admitted they did not usually read music magazines. This means that in order to make my magazine appealing to a greater and larger audience, I will have to incorporate for example a celebrity feature in the cover, or something else that will catch people’s attention and not something that only music magazine readers would appreciate.

Out of the people who do read music magazines, Rolling Stones resulted in being the one that people were most appealed to. Therefore I decided to research it, and concluded that it is a magazine ‘devoted to music, liberal politics, and popular culture that is published every two weeks.’ With this in mind, in order to make my magazine as appealable to readers as Rolling Stones, I should add a tone of controversy to my own magazine, focusing on pop culture with an emphasis on style. Furthermore, after these results I realised my magazine should be fortnightly therefore have less gossip and news and more features and articles, especially focusing on artists.

In this question, I have discovered that most people would actually generally pay a reasonable price for a music magazine (£2.50 - £3). This signifies that I could potentially afford to make my magazine of a high quality with lots of content in it.

When it came to asking people what music magazine name they prefer, most people said ‘Repeat’. However, I personally thought there were too many letters in this name therefore wouldn’t fit magazine proportions appropriately. With this in mind, I decided to name my magazine ‘Echo’ or another title ‘Voice’ (which I did not include in the question). I will decide between the two after I do my cover shoot, and see which fits better.

10) Music magazine colour scheme

In relation to the content of my music magazine, most people actually would prefer to read interviews and artists gossips rather than music related articles itself. With this in mind, I have decided that my front cover will reveal an interview with someone famous, as well as celebrity gossip inside the magazine and other music related features (for example best songs playlists etc).

In this questions most people said that a suitable colour scheme for a music magazine cover would be bold colours, such as white, black, red etc. I agree with this since I think certain primary colours contrast well together, and since my magazine inspiration is Rolling Stones and NME I will follow their simple but effective colour scheme, using a lot of white space and for example a red masthead as well as text.
