Aim and Purpose

The aim and purpose of this Slide Show is to present my initial ideas for three

possible music magazines through the use of various fonts, text and images to

help my peers to visualize my ideas.

80’s RockThe target audience for this genre will be middle aged,

from around the age of 30-50’s as the bands featured will be those who were performing during the 70’s and 80’s.

The most predominant gender of this target audience will be males.

• House style: Black, Greys and burgundy.• Bold/statement making fonts – match the

personality of target audience.• Colours/fonts relate to logos of featured bands.• High contrasted photos

House Music

The target audience for this genre will be teenagers to young adults, roughly 16-25. The target audience will be made up of both genres with a 50-50 share. This target audience would tend to be in college or at university.

• House style: Black, bright stand-out colours• Simple fonts, bold fonts used on titles etc.• Colours/fonts relate to album covers of featured

artists.• Bright bold images used, high contrast.

Indie RockThe target audience for this genre will be teenagers and

young adults; roughly from the age of 14-21. Have roughly a 50-50 share between the two genders. The

target audience will be at secondary schools or college.

• House style: Rustic, muted, calm, natural colours.• Simple fonts, slightly feminine, rounded.• Colours/fonts relate to album covers of featured

artists.• Natural light, low contrast, duller, lower saturation

photos.

Indie Rock

Indie RockPossible fonts for this genre.

Feedback• 80’s rock genre should have red’s instead of

burgundy as its more masculine. Steamwreck was voted the best font style for this genre.

• House music genre should have a target audience of 16-21 instead. Should be aimed more at males, more 70-30.

• Indie rock genre should have a target audience of 16-21 instead. Fonts don’t reflect well on the genre. Target audience should be more aimed at females, 70-30 instead.
