The City of Fairfax Band Association
Music and Community
Celebrating its forty-eighth season, The City of Fairfax Band Association (CFBA) supports the performing arts in the City of Fairfax, Fairfax County, and in the greater Northern Virginia and Washington DC metropolitan area. Led by talented and experienced musical staff, CFBA ensembles entertain audiences, and enrich Northern Virginia culture, performing at civic festivals, patriotic pro-grams, and commemorative ceremonies.
The Musicians
Ensembles with varying musical backgrounds, members come together to pro-vide the highest quality wind band music in family-friendly settings. Performers from all walks of life share the love of music, bringing solid musical experience and background to the organization.
The Ensembles
Ensembles include the nationally renowned City of Fairfax Band, as well as Main Street Community Band, Alte Kameraden, Fairfax Swing Band, Fairfax Saxophone Quartet, Main Street Brass Quintet, and its Educational Division Ensembles.
Educational Outreach
In addition to its sponsorship of NVYW Symphonic and Junior Winds, the organ-ization supports music education in the schools and community. CFBA annual-ly sponsors and conducts a Young Artist Competition, with winners selected from high school senior and junior class entrants who play wind and percussion instruments. The Young Artist winner is featured as guest soloist in the City of Fairfax Band’s April concert and receives a scholarship to further his or her music education.
The City of Fairfax Band Association is funded in part by
The Arts Council of Fairfax County, the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and The City of Fairfax.
