Much of the equipment was given to the Vietnamese by the USSR and one piece even came to them from the Germans by way of the Soviets. One of the pieces is a huge helicopter in back. There's also the wreckage of an American jet aircraft from a carrier. I thought the Army Museum had a lot of military equipment in it but this beats that one by a long shot.

Most exhibits relate to the prison’s use up to the mid‐1950s, focusing on the Vietnamese struggle for independence from France. A gruesome relic is the ominous French guillotine, used to behead Vietnamese revolutionaries. There are also displays focusing on the American pilots who were incarcerated at Hoa Lo during the American War.

The Air Defence and Air Force Museum researches, collects, inventories, displays and introduces scientific, cultural, historical artifacts that reflect the establishment, fighting prowess and growth of the Air Defence and Air Force in the cause of the national liberation, reunification, construction and protection of the country.
