KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Press & Media3. To act as an advocate for promoting the work of Tullie House locally, regionally,

nationally, and internationally.

4. Manage promotional and advertising contracts and joint marketing initiatives and relationships.

5. Manage the communications of the organisation, act as a lead spokesperson and ambassador, deliver press interviews, represent Tullie House at events and deliver presentations.

Print & Design6. Manage design work ensuring brand and communication cohesion across

campaigns.

7. Manage the production of marketing material, both print and digital, for the purpose of stakeholder and/or public promotion including the Impact Report, What’s On brochure, Community, Exhibitions, Learning, Development and Commercial programmes.

8. Manage image use, copyright, and credit use, developing copy and supplying content as part of design briefs, listings, press releases and digital content.

Digital9. Manage the Tullie House website overseeing the contract management, content,

and e- bulletin management.

10. Manage the Tullie House digital marketing including website, social media, PPC.

11. Champion the digital development of the organisation, work actively as a key member of the Digital Group and embed outputs from the Digital Strategy into all marketing plans.

12. Champion and play a leading role in the management of the organisation’s CRM system, ensure that data is effectively managed and utilized. Be the organisational lead for GDPR.

13. Manage, evaluate, and report on visitor data from Audience Agency and the CRM system, undertaking other evaluation processes for major programme streams. Ensure this information is used to inform forward planning and support funder reports.

14. Manage, evaluate, and report on marketing activity collating press coverage, reviewing google analytics, social media reach, and SEO reports. Ensure this information is used to inform forward planning and support funder reports.

Budget Management15. Manage departmental budgets and procurement, ensuring wise expenditure and

maximising all income generating and efficiency opportunities.

Relationship Management16. Oversee the Tullie House Membership scheme, member communications and

events.

17. Work collaboratively and actively across the organisation to support the aims of the museum, chairing meetings as required and leading as appropriate for a key manager.

18. Represent the organisation on a range of external groups and partnerships, e.g., Hadrian’s Wall Marketing Group, Cumbria Tourism, China Forum, Carlisle Ambassadors, Carlisle Attractions, Carlisle Historic Quarter.

19. Manage a select programme of events with support from colleagues across departments with a focus on exhibition previews, stakeholder, promotional or programme events and partner/familiarisation visits including managing logistics, hosting, and managing invitation lists.

20. Support sponsor and stakeholder initiatives and opportunities. Develop partnerships, build networks, and deliver reciprocal marketing activity.

21. Participate in the Cumbria Museum Consortium as an active team member to deliver initiatives and develop and deliver strategies.

22. Undertake any other such duties, commensurate with the scale and nature of the post, as may be required.

23. Undertake the duties of Responsible Officer on a rota basis, to include occasional weekend working.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Marketing and Communications Manager

Education & Qualifications

Educated to degree standard or extensive experience of working in a marketing role

GCSE or equivalent grade A-C, in English and Mathematics.

Relevant Marketing qualification

Experience, Knowledge & Understanding

Proficient in Microsoft office: Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Publisher

Experience using CRM ticketing & booking systems

Experience of auto email and visitor journey mapping

Demonstrates an effective understanding of SEO

Proven track record of working with websites and digital content

Experience in writing accurate and engaging copy

Knowledge of principles of marketing and promotional techniques

Evidence of Continuing Professional Development and clear evidence of interest in Continuing Professional Development (CPD) (this could include formal or informal CPD activity).

Experience in line management

Marketing experience in a cultural or tourism venue

Knowledge of Marketing analysis techniques, including Google Analytics

Knowledge of cultural or tourism venue

Skills Able to work under own

Cumbria is poorly served by public transport and the role will require the postholder to travel around the country, especially to our other consortium partners, so access to a UK driving licence is essential

Ability to provide a home working space due to office access being restricted during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
