My Name is Breatrice. I am 14 years old , currently in the 8th Grade ! Most people know me by Bre . I am working with a Friend (Rachel ) to complete a task assigned to us by Mrs. Simpson. Throughout our project , you will learn lots of things about simple machines.

Rachel I am an 8th grade student who attends school at Munford Middle School. I always have straight A’s in all of my classes. I am very hard-working, courageous, considerate, and interesting. Science is a big part in my everyday life. I have amazing friends who support me in my field of education as I support them as well.

Wheel and Axle
Who invented the Wheel and Axle ? - The Hero Of Alexandria
When was the Wheel and Axle invented? - The Wheel and Axle was invented around 3500 B.C

Wheel And Axle
Linked citation goes here
How does a wheel and Axle make work easier ? Take a Red Wagon as example , the wheel and axle of this wagon controls and stirs the wagon. A wheel and Axle reduces the amount of pressure you would have to carry , because with the Wheel and Axle you can stir things easily.

Who invented the pulley? - Archimedes is the first inventor of the pulley. There are other inventors of other different types of pulleys.
When was the pulley invented? - There is no recorded date of the day that the first pulley was invented but since we know that Archimedes invented it we know it had to be invented between 287 BC and 212 BC.

Pulley

How does the pulley make work easier?- The pulley reduces the force needed to pull an object. This allows you to not have to pull the full weight of the object.

Pulley

What is a pulley? - Is a wheel with a grooved rim and a pulled rope or chain can run to change the direction of the pull which then lifts a load/object.

What is a lever? - A lever is constructed from a beam attached to ground by a hinge, or fullcrum.
How is work easier using the lever? - Work is easier because you can change where the effort, fulcrum, and resistance are placed. The weight of an object that needs to be moved can be changed drastically by where the object is placed on the lever.

Who invented the lever and when was it invented? - Archimedes - around 260 B.C.

Examples of a lever: - a see-saw - a nutcracker - a stapler
Return to Exhibit
Lever
Linked citation goes here
What are the three levels of levers? - Class 1- fulcrum is in the middle Class 2- resistance in the middle Class 3- effort in the middle

What is an inclined plane? - A plane that is at a horizontal angle that is used to raise/lower an object by rolling or sliding it down the inclined plane.
Return to Exhibit
Inclined Plane
Linked citation goes here
How does an inclined plane make work easier? - The inclined plane lets you conquer a large resistance but still applying a small force to move the object.
Return to Exhibit
Inclined Plane
Linked citation goes here
Who invented the inclined plane? - Nobody actually invented the inclined plane. Galileo nor Archimedes invented the inclined plane. When was the inclined plane invented? - The inclined plane was said to be invented during the Renaissance that begin in the during 1400s and ended in the early 1600s.

What is A Wedge ?A Triangular shaped round tool , used to separate two objects or portions of an object , lift an object, or hold an object in place .
Return to Exhibit
Wedge

Who invented the Wedge ?.-At this moment , it is still unknown who invented the wedge
When was the Wedge invented ? - The Wedge was invented 2.6 million years ago , in Australia .

Return to Exhibit
Wedge
Linked citation goes here
How does a Wedge make work easier ? - A wedge makes work easier by separating two objects

What is a Screw ?- A Screw is an inclined plane wrapped around a cylinder or post
Return to Exhibit
Screw
Linked citation goes here
Who invented the Screw ?-Assyrian King Sennacherib invented the Screw. When Was the Screw invented ? -The Screw was invented around 700 B.C
- The first Wooden Screw was invented around 250 B.C by Archimedes

Screw
Linked citation goes here
How Does a Screw make life easier ?For one, they are extremely stable, and do not slip out because the grooves on the screw allow it to hook into the wall, and cannot be removed by tugging at itscrews hold the components of just about everything you see together so they function properly and don't fall apart.
