Osteoporosis

One of the worst things that woman suffer (it is more common in women than in men) as they grow older is osteoporosis. But this disease isn´t recent, actually Archeologist have found egyptian mummys of 4000 years with osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis

The main cause of this illness is the growing up.

The decrease of estrogen in women over 50 and the decrease of testosterone in women over 70.

Osteoporosis

At the beginning people don´t present any symptoms but when it is really advanced, people suffer:Bone pain or tenderness.Fractures with little or no trauma.Loss of height.Low back pain (because fractures).Neck pain (because fractures).Stooped posture or kyphosis.

Osteoporosis

To prevent it: add vitamin c to your diet, phisical activity, avoid: alcohol & tobacco; all of those are recommended.Any way, after contracted there’s no cure for it, the only treatment is the pain control, slow down bone loss, prevent bone fractures.

Mainly how doctors diagnose and discover the osteoporosis is by laboratory tests, such as X-rays. And by measuring bone density.

The first known traces of arthritis date back at least as far as 4500 BC.

The first recognized description of rheumatoid arthritis was in 1800.

In 1859 the disease acquired its current name.

The cause is unknown.Infectious agents have long been suspected but

none has been proven as the cause.Is believed that the tendency may be genetically

inherited.It is also suspected that certain infections or

factors might activate it.

How is this disease contracted?

The symptoms come and go.When the disease is active, symptoms can

include: fatigue, loss of energy, lack of appetite, low-grade fever, muscle and joint aches, and stiffness.

There is no cure. The goal of treatment in rheumatoid

arthritis is to reduce joint inflammation and pain, maximize joint function, and prevent joint destruction and deformity.

Early treatment can have very good results.

Patients have a less favorable outlook when they have very advanced symptoms.
